Does anyone have any innovative ways of preventing grass clog up on a mower. I have a 3 bladed Kubota mower.

I do a couple of things.

1- Only mow when grass is dry.
2- Mow more often if your grass grows quickly.
3- Next year I am going to coat the underside of my mmm with slip plate. It's a dry lubricant paint that won't let material stick to it. I used it on my dirt scoop and it does work, although I wish it was more durable. I suspect that grass won't be as corrosive as dirt and rock so it won't scratch off as bad.

Take off your deflector chute. This will allow the mower to clear its self. Be warned that this will allow the mower to also throw sticks and rocks, so use caution!

Keep the blades good and sharp, plus mowe at a slower speed also keep your RPM's up.

Ok I know this is supposed to be an old family recipe handed down, and supposed to be kept secret. But here goes. Nothing works forever, but the best substance that I have found is to melt an entire block of sealing wax or parafin (for canning), add a cup of 30 wt motor oil. Pour oil into wax slowly for safeties sake. Using a horse hair brush not nylon. While hot paint the concoction on all exposed surfaces under the deck, and allow to cool overnite. Rememeber that all the exposed areas must be really clean before applying. First I powerwash then I use Castol purple power cleaner at 1/2 ratio let soak a few minutes then powerwash again. As I said nothing lasts forever but this concoction will last 6 to 8 weeks depending on how much or sand dirt your mower picks up. Most grass won't stick or clog and if it does it rinses out with just a garden hoe and nozzle.

P.S. Don't tell my dad I told you.

Your bio says that you have a B5100E.
When I had a B7100, which does not have a tachometer. I would advance the throttle to full speed and back it off a touch to get proper PTO RPM's. This will set up the blades for correct speed. When grass was heavy I would use low gear range. This would stop clogging.

One other item with the 48” mower that was on my B7100. After one season of use the angle that cause lift would wear almost off. I had to put a new set of blades on every year.

Instead of mowing a full deck, try about 2/3 or so until the cloggs stop.

How big of a pc of wax are you starting with? This sounds interesting, I may try it. You 're not pulling my chain are you?
