In the market for a Medium - Heavy Duty 5 foot box blade. Been doing my homework.

Requirements >700# (will be used as counterweight)
Hydraulic or mechanical retraction of scarifiers (vs pull 5 pins and reposition)
Unsure if I want to go with a roll over type, but it is up for consideration
Local Dealer support (Eliminates Cammond & may eliminate Gearmore)

Attached is a pdf with the info gathered so far.

I can't seem to find any info on Gannon scrapers on Woods site. Anybody know what is up?

Anything else I should be looking at?

Here is one of the most informative box blade comparisons I have seen.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...to-comparision-brands.html?highlight=boxblade

I don't see that Woods makes a 60" "medium or heavy duty" blade. I have the GB60 which is defined as standard duty. It weights 495 .lbs, is very sturdy and I have been happy with it.

P.S. Do you live in West Newbury full time and have a getaway in Maine? We had a house in Newburyport for 10 years before moving back to Maine in 2003.

I got a new taylor box blade with solid plates up to the 3pt connectors for about 400 at auction. It had a scratch or two on it so they couldn't sell it as "new". I had never heard of them until I bought it, and it seemed pretty hefty. Turns out they are a sister company of King Kutter, and they guy at the plant (who sent me a book on it) said that I got a good deal on it.

I don't know if it meets your criteria, as I have never weighed it, but I have seen thinner metal on other models. I drove by my tractor dealer to get his input and he was impressed with their box blades. It is not mechanical/hydraulic - but there may be a hydro top link in my future.

FWIW

I noticed that when they revamped the web site all the construction box scrapers vanished. Try talking to your local dealer.

I have a LB120 - 66" wide and 950 ish pounds. They built it to order and the side plates are thicker than the spec sheet shows (dern! ;)). It's one with the manually lowerable scarifier bar.

I've read thru that thread - great info, but the "premium" features aren't really covered - especially the mechanical or hydraulic retractable scarifiers. See attached picture (gearmore).

Yes - I do live in West Newbury. My parents have a "farm" in Maine. I used to trailer my tractor up there to cut the fields, but Dad has since bought a New Holland TC40DA. I guess I should edit my location...

My dealer owes me a call regarding mulching blades anyway - I'll ask.

Just got pricing on the frontier - $2,703

You had me interested in looking for one with hydraulic lift on the scarifiers. At that price, I lost interest. JC

The Landpride MSRP is $500 less for the MD & $1,000 less for the LD. Not sure if the dealer will charge freight (I'm assuming it's special order).
