Good evening all!

Even while staring old man winter in the face, I am prepping for my spring maintenance schedule for my equipment. I'm currently using a 2012 T4.75. It's actually my second PowerStar but that's another story.

My question to my fellow TBN'ers is has anyone successfully crossed over either the fuel or oil filters for this tractor. CNH keeps playing keep away from the aftermarket filter manufacturers by changing the threads on the oil filter bases.

I was able to use an extra Baldwin hydraulic filter on the PowerStar I had left over from my TN75A. I believe this filter also fit the T4030. I'll get the number of the filter and post it here.

Haven't changed either engine air filter but they've been available aftermarket from day one. Easy to get them in Hastings, Baldwin, etc.

It looks like the original oil filter (CNH# 87679494) has been superceded to 87679598. There is a filter in-between these two, CNH# 87679496 that crosses over to a Baldwin B7499 or Fleetguard LF17509. The last OEM oil filter I bought at my dealer has "Made in China" all over it!

Really haven't played around on-line with the fuel filter, CNH# 84477495.

Thought I would throw this out on these two, very lovely to change filters.

Thank you!

What I would like to know is how you get to some of the filters on the T4.74 with the cab wall, AC lines and the FEL bracket all within a inches of the oil filter and two of the fuel filters. Mine is a 2014 year model. I used to do all the minor maintenance on my tractors but with this unit can barely reach my fingers in the space to actually touch these three filters. The rear FEL bracket on the left side is bolted to the frame and looks to be 75-80 pounds in weight. Have you been able to get to these filters by some means I cannot figure out?

I’ve only serviced this tractor twice, spring of 13’ and 14’.

Hydraulic filter wasn’t too bad, knock a hole in the bottom to drain it and then a big filter wrench.

Thought I would be smooth and take off the loader for the first service. Drove up to a big tri-axle load of #57’s behind the barn and ran the bucket into the pile. Sit the loader legs out and unhooked. Pretty simple, pretty smooth.

Pulled tractor in the barn and started. Fuel filter was pretty messy, oil filter was messy but not as bad as I thought it’d be for being inverted. I haven’t changed the little clear fuel filter next to the tank but that one is going to be tight also. Prefilled the fuel filter with mineral spirits and she didn’t even want to think about starting. Primed it up, nothing. Had to start bleeding injectors and it took to the third injector for it to hit.

Drive around the barn to get the loader back on and…….the loader is sitting on the ground. This wasn’t my first rodeo unhooking loaders. Ground was level, legs were set like the manual said, bucket couldn’t go anywhere. It looked like the main cylinders relaxed and the loader arms stretched out backwards. So it was laid out flat. After an hour of floor jacks, come alongs, hoists, bloody knuckles, cussing, I threw in the towel and called a buddy of mine who has a boom truck used for setting signs. He came over, picked up the loader and I drove into it and we hooked it back up.

Next year, I decided to leave the loader on. I cut the wheels all the way to the right and removed the plastic toolbox off the loader frame. Both fuel and oil were still a PITA and messy. Oddly enough, it wasn’t much harder changing them with the loader on. Had to bleed the injectors again to get it to start. Heck, even checking the oil is a little bit of a challenge in this thing.

This year, I might buy one of those green Pig flexible drain funnels. May cut back on the mess.

I've permanently removed the engine compartment shields on the left and right of the motor. I've also removed the brackets that hold them. I don't like having the whole engine covered up like that.

I had a TN75A before this and it was much easier to service. When I bought the T4.75, I was also looking at a Kubota M7040. It was going to be easier to service as well.

Did you ever figure out why the loader arms relaxed and how to prevent it from happening in the future? Do you have any type of small hydraulic leak that might have caused the problem?

Good evening Utopia! Only thing I can figure was one of the hydraulic line quick connect couplers didn't close completely. There was a puddle of oil under one of the hose ends, I'm thinking that line leaked out and caused it to bleed off. All seems good since then.

Pulled my receipt for the hydraulic filter. I used a Baldwin BT8899 and it fit just fine, no problems since installing it last April. I'm hoping we can get some info on an aftermarket primary fuel and engine oil filters.

Mine is still under warranty so I am a bit Leary of not using NH parts until I'm on my own. Did you change the initial oil and oil filter before the number of hours recommended? 600+ hours before the initial oil and oil filter change seems mighty long to me.....

I certainly agree with you and I did. First service came at 54 hours. I service it annually after that with regular grease jobs along the way. I read about the service intervals based on the sulphur content of the diesel and thought they were awful far out.
