Is there a good water separator that can be easily installed on a Deutz F2L1011F engine? Here in Florida we have a constant battle with water condensing in the fuel tank and fouling the fuel system. The water seems to support the growth of so-called "diesel algae," that slimy gunk that gets through the filter into the injectors. Or is there another solution?

There are algaecide additives for diesel fuel. If you do a search for diesel fuel water separator a number of products come up.

But if you keep the fuel tank full you will minimize condensation.

John, where do you live? Would like to add you to the list of TBN , Florida members.

I highly recommend the racor filters. Since the Deutz recirculates so much fuel, it will keep your fuel super clean. Make sure you get the version for diesel fuel. Don't get the metal bowl versions as they are designed for engine room use for gasoline. They also come in versions with water sensors to let you know when it needs draining. There is also an option for heating the fuel for those of you in northern climates.

All the best,

Peter
