After changing a blown power steering hose last weekend, I now have a leak. Funny thing is, it does not appear to be related to the new hose Although trying to get a good look at the control valve is difficult at best. A quick look at it in the cold tonight and it apoears to be leaking out of something right above the steering housing fill plug. My question is...what is that something?

I see it in the FO-20 manual but it isn't labeled. In figure FO31, it is the piece right under the arrow for the oil seal (part 12). There is a tiny arrow pointing to it, but doesn't say what it is. My guess was a relief valve? Any ideas why this may he leaking?

I haven't had a chance to get a closer look yet. It has been too cold! Any idea what the part I described is? It has a cover on it that rotates freely....ie not threaded.

That's the breather/filler vent for the machincal (lower)part of your steering gear.If it's leaking from that, either you have too much gear oil in that part or a hydraulic pressure leak in the control valve caused by a bad seal between the two and is pumping power steering fluid into the lower part.I'll send you some pics via private message. If it's leaking slightly above the vent, it could be a bad O-ring between the two allowing the fluid to leak out.

It is definitely leaking from the breather/filler vent. Replacing that seal looks like quite a job. Any goox adivice? Where can I find the seal?
