Rake Power rake ??

For those of you using a Harley rake or other power rake or rock picker...can you tell me what model and horsepower tractor you are using? Two or four wheel drive? Are you typically doing homeowner yard installs or commercial? How much of each? Are you pricing by the hour or sq.ft.? And if you don't mind sharing... how much do you charge? Are you working a full season....April to October here in the mid-atlantic states.

I've seen the posts from those who own this impliment and everyone seems to love it, but I'd like to know more details from anyone willing to share. Are there other things I need to know but don't know enough to ask? Feel free to offer any advice. TIA.

I use a JD110 tractor,4wd,43hp,and a pro 6 Harley rake.I do commercial and residential lawn installations and charge a flat rate of $800 per day,$500 for half day,I know some guys price it by the square foot,I think around 8 cents,but I'm not positive.I do a majority of raking in the spring and fall,but use the rake in between also,besides winter of course.Once people know you have one you'll get the work to support the purchase,rake away!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif What size machine do you have?I think a six foot rake calls for a minimum of 20 hp at the pto,hope this helps,if you have any more questions,fire away.

I have a woods TPR7200 (harley pro 6) on a TC40D (40HP, 4WD). I have it used it to rake fieldstone from a 6 acre field. It works very well in the right conditions. I've found that it works best when ground is very moist (but not muddy) and well broken, especially in heavy soil. In the summer when the ground is hard the roller rides up over the ground and only the 1" pegs dig in. That's not what you want at all. Not to mention the dust.

It is not a speedy process but it does a thorough job and sure beats the old fashion way /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
