DURN!!!! I thought I had the 3000 ready to work again. After dropping the shredder and towing it to start, then parking it, the next day I noticed the three point arms all the way up. I thought, that's great it's not leaking down, must be in great shape.

Last night I went to drop it down and it wouldn't go down. There was no attachment on it and my body weight wouldn't budge it. It was late and I went in before I went much further with it.

I'm thinking about pushing down on it with my JD front end loader while the control is set for the lower position. I'll see about trying that tonight.

Any experience with this problem or comments about it are appreciated.

Did you shut of the drop speed needle valve? I don't know about the 3000 for sure, but most of our tractors have a needle valve that adjusts how fast the 3PH will drop. If it is adjusted to far (closed), it will not allow the arms to drop at all.

jinman,

Thanks very much for the response. No I've never touched that valve since I bought the tractor almost 24 years ago.

Someone told me that it has to be a stuck valve and said that moving the flow control valve, the one jinman referred to, may unstick it. I will try this tonight.

Please keep the suggestions coming.

assuming you havn't played with the hyds diverter, try this to see if it is hyd locked up.. or mechanically locked up.

remove the pipe plug in the 3x5 option cover and see if the arms drop and oil shoots out all over you.. :)

if no, then take a hammer ad tap on the end of the upper lift arms a bit.. don't get all brutal with it.. just some good medium+ taps see if the linkage then drops free.

jinman,

Hmm, 24 years is for sure a long time. May be the needle valve is almost seated and it got cruded up a bit. I still would lower my lift arm all the way down and turn the knob (rate of drop) under you seat all the way CW and CCW several times hoping that action might free up any contaminants in the needle valve seat.

JC,

Yes, I did move the diverter handle back and forth. I will mess with the flow control first and if need be, remove the pipe plug.

Thanks VERY much for the suggestions!

You guys scored again! I messed with the flow control, ran it out and back in, then about midway. I stood on one of the arms and it acted like it was coming down VERY slowly. I got out my other tractor and was headed into position for putting some pressure on the arms with my front end loader. As I got close I noticed that the arms were at the bottom.

I started it up and ran the power lift up and down several times with no trouble.

Thanks a BUNCH for the help.
