Upgraded from a 1533 open station hydro to a new 1742 cab hydro. Was expecting a nice power bumb going from 33 to 42 hp but suspected I didn't get much. Wasn't sure until I attempted to plow 6" of powder last week. Used a rear blade turned around backwards so I would not tear up my gravel drive. Was fine in mid range on the flats but as soon as I started up any incline it would bog down, forcing me to back off the hydro pedal until I was going 2 mph, or lift the blade, or put it in low range. Not talking steep hills, just average driveway type slopes. Pretty much the same as my 1533 was. My dealer was great and came out to check it out the day after I called, even though I said I would drop it off at the shop to make it easier on them. And after he drove it he felt it was down on power as well. But once they got it to the shop they said the engine power and hydro transmission pressure was spot on. Can anybody with 1736/1742/1748 comment on your experiences? Am I just expecting too much from a 1742? Should I have gone for a 1754? The dealer said if I wasn't satisfied he would discuss with corporate to see if I have any options but don't expect much. I really do have a good dealer so they may work with me on an upgrade if that is the only cure. Thanks for your help.
