Power beyond on a 2 spool valve

This question also came up in the JD forum, but is more appropriate to ask in the hydraulics.

I have this valve - 2 SPOOL 8 GPM PRINCE MB21BB5C1 DA VALVE - and would like to use the power beyond function. What happens if something is not always hooked into the outlet port? Will pressure dump to the tank port?

If there is no adapter in the PB port, you can use either port for the OUT flow.

You can just plug the PB port and use only the OUT port.

Where will the OUT flow connect to?

Is this valve going to be used in an open center or closed center circuit hyd system?

The tractor has power beyond. I would run from the tractor supply into the spool valve (P), and back to the tractor (T). I would add the plug in the valves power beyond port and put a quick release there. This port (O) would couple to a hose and go to another set of spool valves (sometimes) which would go back to the tractor's power beyond (a tee with the spool valves return).

What happens if nothing is connected at the valves power beyond port?

If your hyd system is an open center hyd system, the fluid has to flow all the time.

If you block it off, the pressure will rise until the relief goes off or something blows up.

You can't just leave it open, if that valve is the last valve in the hyd circuit, it should flow to tank.

If that is the last valve in the hyd circuit, the OUT flow should go to tank.

If you are not using the PB port, just plug it.
