Powder post beetle -- Borax?

We have a growing infestation of powder post beetle in the outside logs of our cabin. The Orkin man recommended a borax treatment. He said spray on was ok but painted on was much better. Can this be done by just dissolving some 20 Mule Team Borax in water and applying it? I would welcome any experience you might share.

I'd think the, "dissolving some 20 Mule Team Borax in water and applying it" would work. One issue is that it's water soluble, so i'd think weather might play a factor in how long it last.

I mixed boric acid (found in roach powder too, usually cheaper..) with RV anti-freeze and soaked the wood with a pump sprayer to get rid of termits. Safe for people and pets, but deadly to bugs.

Excellent timing. I have something inside a light I made from an oak branch that is leaving piles of dust on the ground under it. The hole is tiny and everything we've tried to get into the hole to kill it has failed. I didn't know the name of what it was until just now when I read this post. Thank you for that, now I'm googling Powderpost Beetle and methods to kill them. Unfortunately I already stained and sealed the wood, so it looks like opening up the size of the hole and injecting poison into it is my only option.

When I moved in about 10 years ago the ground level of the bank barn had extensive signs of powder post beetle activity. I treated it spraying with Bora Care and so far have not seen any fresh activity. Used one or other of these web sites for identification and supply. doyourownpestcontrol.com or domyownpestcontrol.com It did leave a visible residue perhaps from me over doing it.
