Well first off been a great little saw it has a 12" bar and I'll say I've had it 10 plus years but probably been 20 any ways been great till last year had trouble getting it started so off to the local repair shop 30 bucks an hour well got to thinking this isn't a expensive unit I'm just kind of attached to it but at 30bucks an hour and I believe I only paid 60 for the saw clearence deal anyways I like to believe I'm some what mechanically inclined? Well did some research about ethonal fuel well to rebuild carb kit was like 15bucks but dug a little deeper got a entire replacement carb for like 20bucks great put together ran Awsome all last spring let it set summer storm came had to cut up a few small trees and saw would only run when pumped up by primer ball then run for like 2min then shut off ???? Well put it back in garage till a couple days ago figured might be clogged fuel filter so bought a kit on line with a stone filter and several ft of gas line went to put new filter on found stone and line broken ? Gas line very brittle so I put on all new gas line only thing I haven't replace was the primer ball doesn't seem to leak saw will run but only after priming it like 6 pumps then runs for like 15 to 20sec. Shuts down now the only thing I did different was I used one piece of gas line into tank where the had a connector splicing the fuel line to the filter ? I'll wait to here from anybody first if this would make a difference and the fuel line is a little longer stone is at fuel cap but down at bottom? Any other thoughts would be appreciated I already bought a new saw just really believe this little saw has a lot of life left in it and I have a ton of chains to use yet ok thanks.

Hitting the return key once in a while would make your post easier to read. I'm out of breath just reading it... :)

Sounds like your saw may just need the carb cleaned out, or perhaps a diaphragm is broken, so it's not pumping fuel like it should, or if there's a vacuum line from the crankcase, it may be cracked or have come loose.

Nobody much sells gasket kits for carb rebuilds anymore, but the only way to know is to take it apart. If it's just dirty, clean and re-assemble. If the diaphragm is torn, get another carb off ebay. My guess is it's just gummed up.

FWIW, if you can find a place that sells ethanol-free gas, run that in your saw, and it'll be much happier. A bit of Sta-bil always helps if you're going to store the gas, in a can, or in the saw. Or drain the gas right out of the saw, then fire it up and run it dry before setting it on the shelf for long periods.

It occurs to me I've had my little Husky 240 start and die several times after running it dry... You might just have an air lock that needs to purge, unless you've started it and run it till it died more than just a time or two. You can stab the button while it's running to keep it going... Usually they'll purge the air out and run on their own in a minute or so if that's the issue... ??
Good Luck!

A long shot, but I have had the needle stick to the seat.---the tip is usually neo, and alki. gas will stick them if they sit very long.
You might take the cover off and check it and while in there double check the needle lever for proper height!
Around here we are stuck with alki.gas.---I can't find any place that sells the non alki. stuff!thanks; sonny580
