Tractor
Kubota L2800
I have a 2003 Kubota B7500 (650 hrs) 60 MMM, LA402 FEL, Rotary Tiller, 4Ft Brush hog, 5Ft Woods Box Blade and was thinking of trading all of that for a new Kubota Zero Degree Mower.

I mow approx 4 Acres+ or should I say my wife does. She loves the little tractor for mowing but I think it would be a much quicker job with a zero degree mower. She was just recently diagnosed with MS and that makes working the clutch a little bit of a challenge. I thought a zero degree would require more arms than legs.

I have a L2800 Kubota with FEL, 60" RDM, Brush hog, Box Blade etc for it so I really don't need all the stuff with the smaller tractor.

Questions - What is the best Zero Degree Mower to look at? I know this will get various opinions so please state why you think your choice is best.

Any Pro's to mowing with the tractor versus the Zero Degree???

Any rough ideas what my package would be worth, tractor has had all maintenance and shows normal wear. I used it to clear my land a few years ago so the loader bucket has a few dings in it but not terrible. Box blade is missing 2 teeth. Tiller was purchased used and is an older unit with some minor leaks in seals but works great to break up garden a few times per year. MMM is in excellent shape, Brushog is in excellent shape except for minor bend in crazy wheel mount that needs a piece of steel welded in place to strengthen it, week design originally. Everything has been kept in shed and mowing deck is always cleaned after mowing. Turf Tires on rear, more aggressive bobcat tires on front. I was thinking around 10 to 11K for the whole package.. Does that sound about right?

I believe you need to contact Barlows and ask how they will trade, if you live in the US. Listing where you live in your profile helps with advise sometimes.

I am not going to guess about the value of all your machinery but I will tell you about my new mower. With your wife having MS, I would think that a smooth riding and operating machine would be what you need. I just bought a Ferris IS 700 and let me tell you it is smooth riding. I have JD 332 diesel tractor type mower and a Craftsman zero turn that I had been using but my lawn is pretty rough having once been a pasture. I was looking for something that would ride smoother and when I saw the Ferris with the spring over shock suspension system I just had to try it. It smooths out all the small bumps so you don't even feel them and softens the pot hole and sunken ditches (sprinkler lines) to where they are tolerable. Cut is great also and with top speed of almost 10 MPH, you can finish mowing in a short while. I mow a little over 6.5 acres and put about an hour on the meter each time I mow. It took me 3+ hours with the Craftsman with the same 52" deck. I used to dread mowing because my back took a pounding and I usually needed some medication for the pain afterward. NOW, I can hardly wait for the grass to grow so I can mow it again. It takes only about 1/3 of the gasoline for the 23 HP Kawasaki engine to complete the mow as it did on the Craftsman 26 HP also. Hour for hour they burn about the same fuel but it takes 3 times as long so not only am I saving my back, but also saving on fuel cost.

Where are you located?

I've got a 52" Scag Turf Tiger with 27hp Kohler with LOW hours I'd trade toward your tractor. Let me know.

You may want to read some of these posts concerning the good and bad about Zero turn and F mowers. Some of Kubota Zero's and all of the Fs have seat that's adjustable for weight of rider and suspension seat.

Well my wife did not like my idea of trading off her tractor. I guess this idea is out for the time being. I think mowing is sort of like therapy for her so length of time to mow really doesn't factor in. Thanks for the ideas, maybe later down the road.
