Just hoping that someone may have an idea of what is wrong with my 135 tractor.

The position lift lever is stuck in the almost fully up position. It doesn't look to be seized with rust or anything - I'm thinking there may be something inside stopping it from moving...
The draft lever moves up and down freely and is the only way to operate the lift at present.

Any ideas about where to start? Need to get it working so that it lifts high enough for my cement mixer to work right without dumping all the conrete on the ground!

Hello
The position control lever could be seized, spray wd40 and tip the blade with something flat along its edge,,,light tip back and forth might move it

next if that dont work

On the tractor RH side is an inspection plate, in order to see if the lift arms are being actauated you have to take off this plate, a moving lever with a twist strikes an
actuator which shifts the control valve in the hydraulic pump, this should respond to actuation by the position control movement on the quadrant.
On the top of the control valve actuator is a roller pin held between two upright blades, this roller pin is easly lost, it doing anthing with it attach a thin wire loop
around it so if you loose it into the oil you can fish it out.

Failing that youd have to take of the top cover and see if the quadrant assembly actuators are not bent or the springs clogged with muck, whats the condition of
the hydraulic oil like, it might be all dirt and muck possibly never changed, if there is anything wrong with the hydraulic pump a repair kit can be got
from QTP in Mullingar or their local garage agents....the pumps in the MF 100 series are identical.

I looked through the side cover and the draft control seems to work ok but the position lever won't budge at all. Its jammed solid.
I took the lift cover off and had a look at the linkages...can't seem anything out of place at all... I reckon the position lever shaft is seized in the quadrant tube.... I tried to undo the set screw that holds the quadrant assembly on to the lift cover but can't seem to get an allen key to fit it - its way down the bottom of a tiny hole... Any ideas or is it possible that there is nothing down that hole?
And I think I dropped a bolt into the sump too :confused2:

The position lever is seized in the qudrant housing...applying heat to cause metal expansion so that oil might creep thru and free it, to dismantle the allen keyed
securing screw has to be undone, have a look at the sparex site it has a mechanical layout for the assembly
The bolt may have moved and attached to the sump drain plugs as they have a magnetic at their tips.

I tried fishing with a magnet to get the bolt but can't find it. Looks like I'll have to drain the hydraulic oil Should the top of the set screw be visible easily? It looks like an empty threaded hole...

I tried heating the tube with mapp gas, and whacking it with a hammer, attached vice grips to the end of the tube and tried to free it up, but it is stuck solid. Also discovered that the set screw holding the quadrant assembly on is gone! The quadrant is just seized in place.

I gave up and brought the lift cover to my local tractor garage. The guy looked at it and there was a sharp intake of breath and he basically said he couldn't do it because he reckons it could take him a whole day to unseize it and would have to charge a lot.

So, I have it back again in the back of my car.... what next?

Soak it in Kroil.

Let the oil out...ud never know whatever metal debris is at the bottom of the sump....what became of the set screw with the allen key head as if its removed you should be able to
apply wd 40 down the screw hole....was the tractor left idle for a long time as position controls do not seize very often
keep applying heat and if it can be got freezing aersol....se if radiospares still stock it as if you apply heat to the cover and cool the position tube to leave a small clearance
it needs to be only microns....theres no other way

Yes the tractor was sitting for a few years outside with little use - its my brother's tractor and he went off to Canada for 5 years...

Anyhow, I finally got the position lever unseized, drained the oil and recovered the dropped bolt in the sump. With the lift cover upside down, I heated with mapp gas around where the position shaft fits in, made sure it was good and hot, then put ice cubes in the U shape of the quadrant "mounting arm". I did this a couple of times, hit it with a hammer a few times and then I was able to twist the position shaft with a pair of vice grips on the end. Then I dosed it with penetrating oil and worked it back and forth lots of times. I didn't try to get the entire quadrant assembly out of the lift cover any more as its probably a bigger job, put I would probably use the same technique with ice and heat, and maybe attach a 6 foot metal tube to the arm with U bolts for leverage.

I'm in the same boat, the inner quadrant position control lever is seized, won't budge. I'll try freezing the HYDRAULIC LIFT LINKAGE CONTROL QUADRANT SUPPORT housing after heating the position control lever and see if I can't break it free. Any tips?
