Pond/Lake construction

Any experts here ? Anyone have any good links information on building lakes/ponds etc..?

PondBoss has been referenced in the past as a helpful site. I don't have any first-hand knowledge of this, however.

Steel Wheels, I'm going to try to post some web sites that I visited while I was building my pond last summer. If the links do not work, you should be able to cut and paste the information.

The best information I received was by contacting my local soil and water conservation office. They had something they called a "pond letter". It listed all the government offices in NC that had to be contacted to obtain permits. They even had telephone numbers of each office. Each office offered additional information about building the pond. When you put it all together, it ended up being enough information for a novice like me to talk semi-intelligently to the pond contractor.

Good luck, and be sure to take plenty of pictures during construction.

You might want to contact a pond/lake management company to consult on the plans also. If your ultimate goal is to have a stocked pond that will develop into good fishing these people can give good guidance for proper habitat. Coincidentally we have a lake manager coming today to look over a lake on property we have under contract. It has been an education finding all that is involved in proper management of a body of water.
