2014 John Deere 2032R
Hey everyone I've been having an issue with the JD quick connect 54" plow on my 2014 JD 2032R (first gen). It operates normally up, down, and left, however when I move the joystick right I cannot move the lever all the way or the plow will go the opposite direction. If I move the lever 60-75% it will move at full speed in the correct direction. When i go past that, the plow goes left. My best guess of the cause is that there's some blow-by in the piston at full pressure causing the blade to reverse direction.

I am new to larger tractors and hydraulics, so please be gentle. Also hoping this hasn't been asked before, I searched for answers before posting and found nothing related. Thanks in advance.

What blade? Loader mounted or 3pt? Loader controls or rear remotes?

The curl function for the bucket on a loader generally has a function called regen or quick dump.

Regen applies full pressure to both sides of the curl cylinders. As the back end of the cylinder is bigger than the rod end (the rod takes up space) so it overpowers things. The extra fluid from the rod end makes it dump faster. It also keeps the rod end pressurized so air doesn't get sucked in through worn rod seals when the bucket pulls down when dumping.

Regen works fine for double acting cylinders but trades speed for power. But it doesn't work for single acting cylinders. Most plow truck type plows use opposed single acting cylinders. Applying full hydraulic pressure to 2 cylinders of equal size fighting each other results in no real movement.

Economy tractors (Kubota L3301, etc.) usually only have 3 stages. Curl, center & regen dump. Premium tractors (L4060, etc.) Often have a 4 stage valve. Curl, center, regen dump then power dump to the full right. Not sure what valve you have. 3 stage won't work for a truck type plow but a 4 stage can be made to work (plow will work funky moving the valve partially right but would work right going full right).

It's a deere brand 54" plow attached with a deere quick disconnect system and it uses the loader controls. Below is the best pic I have of the setup right now.

There's also a deere snowblower that attaches with the same set up (plus pto shaft etc). I'd like to assume that the plow and SB are designed to work with this tractor, but the dealer couldn't find me a u-joint for the SB pto shaft and said this tractor should only fit a 59" or 48" (or something near that) SB. So it may not be an exact fit, but close enough to clear snow.

I think this plow uses just one cylinder to angle the blade, so it must be double acting. It has a second cylinder for lifting (and no float function afaik).

I'm not sure if it's economy or premium, but I expect it to be economy.

This isn't really a major issue to using the plow, I'd just like to address any issues if possible.

I think they're hooked up correctly... but could be wrong. UDLR all correspond to the according lever movements.

Sounds like you valve has the regen feature that allows for fast dumping of the bucket. If that is the case, then it would explain how it works correctly as long as you don’t go to full right with the joystick. My guess is that feature is creating your problem.

If it is q double acting angle cylinder &3 position valve, it will work. It would just extend a lot faster & weaker than it would retract. Not sure if that would be angle left or right. I'd expect it to be a little quirky, but not terribly problematic. Especially if it was an OEM setup.

I occasionally run a similarly mounted JD snowblower. The chute rotate is setup on bucket curl. Just realized that's why it seems a bit twitchy at times. Never twitchy enough to actually care or give a 2nd thought to though.

You have a regen valve.

Now you have to decide if you can live with it the way it is, or explore other options

I *think the pin circled in red will help with this. I may be remembering incorrectly. If you push this pin all the way to the right I believe it locks out the entire loader control valve. If you push it part way in I think it's supposed to lock out the regenerative dump feature. I haven't messed with mine in a while so I don't remember enough to be sure.

If it does lock out the regen feature you should be good to go.

Thanks for the input everyone. Sounds like this is a quirky byproduct of the regen valve. It doesn't bother me, just want to make sure I'm taking care of any issues.

This looks like the controls for a 2nd gen 2032r. I've got the first gen, and don't see a pin like that.

Upon closer inspection, the control diagram seems to show me exactly what you guys are all saying! If only I was smart enough to figure it out in the first place.... thanks for all the input.
