Well I finally got to give my Meteor rear PTO blower a real work out on Thursday. I blew 13" of heavy snow off my 2000' gravel driveway. It worked great. I set the skid shoes to leave about a 2' clearance and did not pick up one rock. The snow I left will form a great base and now I will raise the shoes all the way up for future storms. The only inconviencence was the snow blowing back into my face. Has anyone had any luck putting a piece of plexiglass on the ROP to shield from the snow? If so, how did you go about it? I also have to be able to reach the hand crank for the shoot.

Thanks,

Maybe a canvas w/clear plastic window might be better,for when the snow sticks to the canvas you can tap it off,also slip your hand thru the side of the canvas and rotate the crank,plus fastening the canvas just tie it good and tight..also easier to remove.

Take a peek /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif at your local tractor dealers and notice the different setups ideas. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I just use ski goggles and my hood wrapped tight around my head. Was going to buy a snowmobile helmut at one point, but didn't.

W/ 2' of clearance and only 13" of
snow u didn't remove much snow :)

We used plex-glass on rear of tractor when
using side slinger manure spreaders.
The brown stuff is WORSE than the
white stuff.

Blow with the wind and you'll have very little snow in your face. Blow against the wind and you'll eat lots of snow!

I put a piece of Plexi-glass on my ROPs.I only put it on the back.I used small self-tapping screws and only bolted twice on the top.There is an opening to adjust the chute.I didn't come all the way down with it.Doesn't keep the snow that blows in the sides off you,but Tom's idea is the way to go if you don't want any snow on you.

You want to use either Lexan or Uvex, regular Plexiglass, actually Lucite, looses a lot of strength when it gets cold. Uvex is the stuff they use on snowmobiles and is flexible in the cold.

Wow! lots of great Ideas! I do use Ski googles and a tightly tied hood. Thomas, I like the idea of a canvas w/clear plastic window. I could use some screw on snaps on the ROP to attach it. Other than having one costom made, does anyone have any idea where you could buy one? I just want it to cover the ROP.

Tim,
You are right,

do a search for "winter cab" here at TBN and you should find discussion and picture of vinyl golf cart cover used as cab. Works great
