Please help with axle leak (leak #3 on the LS)

ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER LS ISSUE.

Got the hydraulic fluid swapped for the 500hr checkup and noticed this axle leak.

Avenger- You seem to have a more in depth manual than I do....does your manual show what I need to do to fix this? Dare I ask where to buy parts for these? (unfortunately 2 other leaks to deal with as well) The others are slow, this one is bleeding out money on the ground constantly it looks like. Wonderful.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Gotcha. Im swapping gear oil next so it would be a good time to fix this first.

I would imagine so. The seal under the top part where the zerk fitting is on top of the "bell" is torn too (not shown)

Sounds like something really got messed up in there. Yeah, its gear oil for the front axle. The owners manual shows you how to check it if you didnt already know. I sent you a PM to get the entire service manual.

Avenger you are the man thanks for the full manual.

Looks like #11 is what I need and all those pieces appear to be put together in 1 seal per google. Hopefully this is all pretty straight forward. If anyone knows anything or any tips id appreciate it!

Those seals are probably exactly what you need. But if you popped the bolts for the control arm, messed up the seals, you might have messed up something else in there too. I'd take it all apart, clean it really well, inspect everything and then order what you need, if not the entire parts kit. (if you havent done so already)

Another place to look, if all you need are the seals, try taking the seals that are bad into a specialty local shop if you have one. There are few places where I am at that will take measurements and get you a seal that is very close if not exact. Your local may vary. But I suspect you may need more than just a seal or two. You may be able to do this yourself and order seals from places like Rock Auto or Amazon. I had to do that for an old motorcycle long ago.

Thanks for the help! I did use it for a half day or so and everything seems to work fine....just pouring fluid out. Will get it tore up and report back. Hopefully I can just unbolt everything and #13 just drops down off for the seal replacement.

Typically when seal leaks it痴 from intrusion of foreign material on front axle. It could also be from bearing failure allowing shift of spindle from center. If it was apart prior did you verify it was clean before reassembly, did re use old seals. Don稚 normally see gear oil run out like water. It just looks wet on the assembly with small droplet coming off.

Its leaking pretty good.

I did have part #9 come off and replace the bolts as 2 were broken.

Hopefully its as simple as remove the wheel, then part 9, then part 14...which should hopefully let #13 drop off to expose the seal.
