How many TBN members are using or thinking of using a CNC plasma cutting table ?
I am thinking real hard about getting a Plasmacam, they seem to be the most complete self contained unit availiable that I have found.
Any ideas or thoughts on the subject?

I am not famillar with plasma but cnc routers yes.If you are given the option of stepper motors or servo motors.Pay extra get the servos.Your cuts will be smoother and more accurate.

I have the 4x4 Plasmacam table and some of the artcad software in my shop. The only table I found commercially, which would be IMO better is the Plasma Cutter & Router Price List combination plasma/router tables.
If you need any more specifics, just let me know.

I don't know if it will do you any good since you are buying a commercial model, but may be of interest... I built my own unit, which I still use very successfully today, for many tractor and non-tractor projects. Link:

I don't know what I would do without this thing. My friend asked me a week ago, "what did you do before you had the plasma table?" I couldn't even remember those dark ages to answer him.

I am a forum junkie. I belong to another site which is a great source of information about CNC machines, alike TBN is with tractors. CNCzone.com-Machinist Community Forums - Welcome Page is the site. I have been designing a CNC machine for different applications. 1) cutting wood & carving wood, 2) plasma cutting, 3) tack welding. Kind of a weird set, but thats what I need it to do. Been a long process. Since I bought my tractor, I haven't been as dedicated to it.

Wow,
I would love to have one of those. But I saw the price list and those things are expensive man. I can't imagine you guys designing and building your own CNC or NC for that matter. Great going!

Here is another brand you might look into. ShopSabre CNC

I don't have any experience with any of these units; but I would love to have one. I agree with the comment on servo motors being better than stepper motors for precise work. I was looking into laser engravers and I was going to go with Epilog for a number of reasons including the servo motor feature.
