Hi Everyone:
Could someone please post pictures of their JD 430 loader? I need to see what the bucket linkage looks like when the bucket is fully curled and in the full dump position. I am planning to upgrade my 420 loader. I am posting two pictures of my 420 bucket linkage so you can see the views that I need.
Thanks, Marshall

Marshall - Sorry I can't help you with some 430 pics, but I have a 420 loader too. I'd be interested to know how you are going to upgrade yours, if you can find the time to give a few details.

I know there are a lot of folks with 430s out there and I hope one of them will come through with some pictures for you.

Hi: Thanks for the responses. I plan to convert my 420 loader into a self leveling loader with a bucket dump linkage similar to the 430, 440 or any loader that has the extra linkage. What I need to see is what happens to the bucket linkage when it is at full dump. To convert the loader to self leveling should be fairly simple. I just need to custom make and add the extra parts that are on the top of a mechanical loader like this one:
attachment.php
The hard part will be getting the hole spacing just right so the the geometry works out right.
When I add the extra linkage one the top of my 420 loader the bucket cylinders will be mounted higher and won't reach all the way to the bucket. Adding the extra linkage to the bucket will solve this problem but I might have to shorten the cylinder piston a little (The bucket cylinder piston has about 6 inches of extra piston on it now so it will be easy to shorten.

I haven't collected the materials yet. I have been going to the local scrap yard and looking for just the right pieces of metal. I have some of what I need but mostly I have returned from the scrap yard with about 2000 lbs of future projects.
When I actually start building the self leveling loader I planned on starting a new link . Oh well I guess the cat is out of the bag now.

Hi KennyD:
I am tempted to do that but I don't want to get in trouble for cross posting.

When I move on to converting the 420 loader to a self leveling loader and changing the bucket linkage do you think I should post it in Customization or Build-It Yourself? I'm not building from scratch but it is a major change, a little bit more than welding on hooks or adding lights.

You won't get in trouble for cross posting if you do not get any usefull responces in a reasonable amount of time...

As far as your project, I would post in the Customization forum, and probably make a post in the JD forum pointing to it also.

Sure sounds like a great project, I look forward to seeing the results.
