Another infield renovation today. This is the softball field at UL Lafayette. Several years ago, this facility was voted the best softball venue in the country. It's really a beautiful stadium. Since it was voted best venue, they have converted the outfield to fake grass. We only work on the skinned area.

We rented a small vibrating asphalt roller. This helps settle the infield clay.

I would struggle hard at that level of attention to detail. Much respect.

You probably only want to call me for demolition and debris removal - LOL. Or mowing, I'm ok at mowing.

Yesterday and today I was helping another contractor. I was adding soil (about 160 yards) to the infield to get the elevation correct so they can install fake grass later on. I used a skid steer to move the soil from the parking lot to the infield.

Then I tilled it, then graded it. This soil has lots of clay which makes it harder to work with. It is not intended to grow any grass. This video shows moving only the last of 8 loads of soil with the skid steer. I had moved the other 7 loads the day before.

@Complete Turf Care what size killefer (pull behind box scraper) do you use. The L6060 looks like it handles it well.
It's an 8' Durabilt Landscraper. Product - Landscraper

I have added some adjustable sweeps onto it which I can lower when needed to help loosen up the soil. This is for when I'm on a job and don't have the tiller with me. I prefer the tiller, but the sweeps will work if needed.

And actually, that is my L5740 and it does handle it well. I do have 2 L6060's but both have turf tires. The 5740 has R4's and they are filled with water. This gives me a little more traction when pulling a full blade of material.

It's amazing how much effort it takes to make the ground flat. I watched them build a soccer field at the University and a football field at the Junior College, and in both places, it took them months to get it done with all sorts of equipment!!!!
