About 2 weeks ago one showed up at our place too. Slept right in our garden and on our asphault driveway under my wifes vehicle. For three days it just wandered around and the wife wanted to adopt it. I said just wait a couple more days. And then the next morning around 7:00 am we looked outside and it was running around with its brother (or sister). Mom was standing there and they were running around her jumping and playing. I talked to my brother in law that day and he said that right after they are born the mom will find a safe place for them and leave them there (returning to feed them every so often). He said the reason for this is that the fawns do not have a scent and the mom does. If a predator comes by most likely it will track the mom and not the fawn. He also told me that she is not far away and always watching them. Sorry for rambling so much but it was a pretty neat experience. I have some pictures at home I will try and post later.

Just this past Saturday, we were visiting my sister and brother-in-law, who just built a house in a very nice golf course community. We were sitting on the deck enjoying a "beverage" and the beautiful afternoon (it was around 4:30p.m.), when 2 fawns came bounding out of the woods and were jumping and frolicking between the house and the 9th green. They were gone before I could grab my camera, but I waited. I knew momma would come along in just another minute or two. Sure enough, here she comes following the fawns by about 200 yards or so. Did get a pic of her. I'll try to get it downloaded so I can post it.

My brother-in-law did say the deer were driving the groundskeepers crazy because of all the damage they did to the greens. Seems as though deer don't have proper golf etiquette, and routinely run/walk/bound across the greens. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Dave, you might have heard of their golf course community - Geneva National in Lake Geneva. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Just so you know that fawns can not use the bathroom on their own when they are young. The mother (in this case your relates) will have to stimulate them to go. If they don't, the fawn will die within a few days. You can learn more about raising fawns at www.deerfarmer.com and visit the fourms or toss me a private message with any questions you might have and I will try my best to help you out. Take care and good luck.

My uncle is a vetrinarian, so he advised me to activate his **** pore /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif! I used a warm & moist paper towel to do the deed. It works real good ever since /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

Thats good to hear. You have no idea how many fawns die each year because people find them and think they are abandoned so they try to raise them without knowing a thing about what they are doing. If you do have any questions your uncle may not be able answer just give me a hollar.

Sounds like they are not enforcing the soft spike rule. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
