john deere 3032e, 1950 8n
anything I should be aware of, or look out for? I have a 1950 8n for the last ten years. Is the john deere as tough as that old ford?

I have 300 hours on mine and it has been a sturdy little workhorse. Gotta keep the RPMs up to hush the obnoxious high gear transmission whine. The electronic console had to be replaced at 175 hours. Dealer said it was not an unusual occurrence with this machine. Dropped the rear tire pressure down to the minimum to save my back from breaking. It's a hard ride on rough ground otherwise.

thats good to hear. hooked up the phd today and screwed it right into the ground...had a hack of a time getting it out. now the pto makes noise with nothing attached...hope I didn't break anything....not sure if it will stop with a load on it. I dropped my tire pressure down to 15 in the back and 20 in front.

There have been other complaints here of noisy PTO. Mine (200 hrs) whines but normally I can't hear anything over the implement or the xmission. I loaded the rear tires with -20º blue windshield wiper juice (and dropped the psi) which makes a world of difference for traction and ride. I still have my 8n after 25 years. Can't give the ol' girl up even though she rarely gets any hours on her. Tough as the 8N? Only time will tell. There's no comparison as to functionality. The HST, FEL and power steering make the JD so much more useful for me at this time in my life. Good luck with yours. I think you'll come to love it.

My new tractor is offically broke in, got my first scratch. I got hung up in a tree cause of the non folding rops, the biggest thing I don't like about this tractor, I have to figure out a way to make it fold down...I have a lot of trees. Also found out about the pto noise, you have to be above in idle, kicked the rpms up and the noise went away. Moved a lot of dirt yesterday, takes a while to get the hang of the loader.

Not unusual....Hmmm. So it could happen again. Did you ask what the cost is after warranty runs out?

I have a 3830e and had not heard about the electronic console being an issue. I'll speak with my dealer about. No issues yet. The ROPS is inconvenient around trees. I don't get hung up with it but an tired of it catching small branches and whipping them into my head. However, neighbors I know with fold-able ROPS admit that they fold it for branches and never really put it up again - so the value of the ROPS in safety is nullified. With these narrower tractors, I'd rather deal with the branches than risk getting smushed in a roll-over.
