PGT 9000 Blowing Fuses

Hey first post guys and I wished I wasn't doing it LOL. Anyway my tractor is blowing fuses. My first thought was the PTO because it has been noisy since last year. I replaced the fuse and went to start it (thinking it might be a slow blow) popped it right away. So I disconnected the PTO at the 2 wire harness same thing. Moved to the wire bundle on the back side of the PTO engage switch same thing. All the while I'm looking @ the amp gauge it pegs way over 20 amps and then it pops. @ this point I'm thinking micro switches so I do a visual of all the wiring again looking for a direct short I see nothing. I then disconnect the hour and amp meters. The fuse didn't blow but I'm also pretty certain that I don't have a complete circuit now.

I thought I'd search the data base but I really don't see much info or anyone reporting a problem like this on my model. Anyone want to help take a swipe @ this with me?

Detailed point to point examination with a Fluke meter has lead me to the fuel management/auto choke module. Replaced the fuse gain and left the power wire disconnected to the module and the engine would crank and plugs fired but would not start. Hit it with ether and it started monetarily but would not remain running.

Sears doesn't list the engine break down that includes the module and trying to find my engine on the Briggs site is useless. Model doesn't exist please call.

I have a 28 horse vert. shaft BS Model 9BSXS.8102vs Tractor is a 247.28984. Part number for the module is BS-796532s. Looking on the net this pings as a hose?????

Tractor is repaired Model was not listed on the engine some code sears can figure out but the real numbers where listed in the owners manual for replacement engine. Go figure. Engine was 49M877-OO47-G1. Order the auto choke electronic box and it fired right up. Don't understand the way that box works but at least its fixed. BS-796532S is the correct part number.

Sears PGT9000: (Canadian designation Model C459-60134) I enjoy the second year of ownership because its's big, powerful, and stable, replacing an ancient John Deere and I have acres of difficult cutting and snow clearing. A week ago when, I checked the machine, I noted the head light wires had popped out of their holder but did nothing about it. In a short time the wires found the muffler and nuzzled up to it. The short circuit blew the fuse. It was not located in any familiar place. Consulting the manual yielded no location nor part number. Calls to Sears in Canada and US resulted in a wrong part number and a search of the right side of the fire wall to no avail. Finally, the local Sears tech. got a wiring blue print that graphically showed the fuse but not its location. His advice was start at the battery. This I did: I removed the battery, holder, etc. and encountered the starting solenoid. Beside it was a nexus of wires and in the center an amber rectangle of plastic; a simple automotive 20 watt fuse which was quickly replaced. The rear of the tractor was re-assembled and the offending burnt wires were repaired. The rest of the grass cutting was uneventful. My guess, the ignorance about fuse location was precipitated by a switch in positions of battery and gas tank. On my tractor the battery is under the seat and gas tank is in front of the fire wall. Still, the sellers should have up dated the manual. The best news is that the three-point-hitch plate has a hole left of center for an alternate tension spring for lifting the mower deck. I can remove or install a fuse with a pair of needle nosed pliers.

Wow mine was under the hood clipped to the battery tray! Glad ya got it fixed.
