Unbelievable!!

Permatran III from my Massey dealer is 82.50 for 2.5 gallons. How the hell do they expect us to change the oil when I need 8 gallons.

That is frigan robbery!! 40$ a gallon is nuts.

What is a good 3rd party alternative?

I have a MF1533 subcompact 33 horse (iseki)

I could never find permatran anywhere, I used duratran in mine, still not any cheaper.

That doesn't seem all that high when you compare it to the hydraulic fluids for other brands of tractors. My Orange tractor uses their fluid that has been almost twice that for several years now.
I found a dealer 200 miles away that was willing to give me a small price break, and since I drive near that store on occasion, I started buying all of my parts thru them and picking them up when I was in the neighborhood.
I needed some of the hydraulic late on a Friday, so I went over to the closest dealership and asked if they "price matched". With a couple of phone calls to their boss, they agreed, so I bought it.
Most of the time, they don't negotiate very much on their prices, so good luck.
