Well.. i finally found a part I needed for my ford tractor that the local NH dealer had to order. It was a tranny dipper stick/fill plug.

My Nh dealer has been great about having parts on hand for all my old fords and my newer Nh tractor. everything from fuel lines and other fuel components to various belts and hyd valve parts.

Guess my luck was bound to run out some time!

Chris, I think your luck started going south when the rooster spurred ya!! Ha Or maybe when the spider bit ya, or your knee (OK, I'll stop)

The spider bites were annoying... However.. i think I have the upper hand 'so to speak' on them now. I'm pretty sure I got bit -again- on friday while feeding the chickens. I walked thru a web, and as i was extricating myself from it, I noticed the small and large ( male and female? ) BW on my arm. Sure enough, a small red dot popped up in about 30 minutes. I just went in and took a benadryl... Went back out and kept working. Never thought about it till now.. No mark.. no adverse reactions. In fact.. Each subsequent spider bit has produced less symptoms each time over the last 2 years... I just wish there weren't so many of the darn things... I've never lived in a place that had so many BW and orb spiders ( never been bit by an orb.. yet.. ).

chix spur was a downturn of the luck though.. I'll give you that one.

Don't know what to say about the knee... I'm still not exactly sure how i injured it...

I think one of the after effects of a bw spider bite is forgetting to put things back where they belong (your tranny dipstick is perfect example). The next stage will be a change in your attitude (or mental state) about folks with opinions on bw spider bites. We understand.:D

I'm fairly sympathetic to suferers of spider bites. My first 3 bites did cause some reaction.. the ist and 2nd being the worst.. but as I've been bitten more.. the effects have lessened.. to wher ethe last bit merely made a red mark.. though i did take benadryl to help.. etc.

Hey soundguy. Are you talking about golden orb spiders? Man my woods are loaded with the buggers. are they poisonous? I've been bitten by smaller little spiders while bushogging but I use the FEL to beat up the golden orb spiders. They look so mean I just assumed they are poisonous. I'd rather mess with snakes

Golden Orb Weavers (or often called garden spiders) are harmless. No worries!
Almost any spider can bite, and will if defending itself.. i.e. you hold one down with your finger for long enough. But even if bitten, it is still a harmless bite, that is unless you are an aphid or other small insect. Leave them alone because they are a very beneficial spider.

the golden orbs on my place seem to put their webs where I need to go. On the tractor I use the FEL to keep them off me. on the ATV I have a piece of fiber glass tent pole I wave in front of me. Man I hate it when spiders get on me. (shiver) and when I bush hog I usuall end up with small bites from thos tiny spiders that get knocked out of the trees. Give me a snake anyway. Not near as sneaky. LOL

The last time I mowed, i found a few extra bits onme that were from undetermined sources... I took a benadryl, and just peeled the webs off ( yuck! )
