Parts availability?

Short story. I went to a Kubota dealer today. Had to get a oil filter and some oil for my Husqavarna riding mower. While I was there I wanted to look at the Land Pride Finish mower and grader scraper. He answered my questions then asked me what tractor I was using. I told him I was planing on the Mahindra 1533. His whole attitude changed after that. He said wait till that things breaks down. It will take forever to gets the parts you need. The after sale customer service is terrible he said. I was expecting him to to try and switch me over to Kubota but. He started getting down right nasty about Mahindra tractors and service. After I got into my truck I started thinking. I have never owned a Mahindra so I really can't compare. Is the after sales service bad? How hard is it to get parts? Or is he a disgruntled Kubota sales guy?

All sales guys do that. When I bought my Ford I told the salesman I had been looking at Kubotas. He said they were Japanese junk, flipped over easily, and I'd have to wait weeks for parts to come from Japan. He forgot to mention that the Fords were also made in Japan.

You getting a Mahindra is taking money out of his pocket. But that's no good reason for a sales person to berate another brand. If he was a true professional he'd know better. A very good reason not to buy from him.

And no, service and parts are very attainable.

Bad form on the salesman's part. As Fawken mentioned, pretty much every tractor built under 100 horse is another manufacturer's "oversea's junk".
I have owned many different color's of tractors and I am quite impressed with my Mahindra and it's capabilities As far as the parts I have only needed one which was covered under warranty ,with an exceedingly long wait time of about three minute's while the service Mgr went to the back and came out and handed it to me. I am sure Dave's tractor or one of the other dealers here will chime in and set your mind at ease.

Went to an LS dealer a couple of years back. I was seriously interested in a G3033. They were asking 15,400 at first cash price. I balked and he asked if I had looked at anything comparable with an FEL. I told him I looked at a 40 horse Foton with a Koyker loader and Rino box blade for $13k. He said the Fotons have a tendency to break completely in half and several people have been killed, then lowered his cash price to $14,100 with a box blade. Went to NH where I bought my Ford 32 years ago. Of course the Boomer which compared to the G3033 was $3k higher with fewer bells and whistles. And we all know who makes those. He said the reason is that LS markets the tractors that New Holland rejects under the LS name. Now how much BS did I come away with from those two encounters?

Well, in my area, the kubota dealer told me Mahindra was their direct competition in this area now. Also, a couple of months ago Mahindra outsold all other tractor dealers in the area including Kubota, LS, Kioti, New Holland, Massey and John Deere. So I guess they are getting a little on edge. When I was in the market last year the Kubota dealer was very concerned about me looking at Mahindra. I bought Mahindra and have had some trouble, but so have the guys I know that bought John Deere and Kubota. They do not make any of them like they used to, just make sure your dealer will take care of you.

I agree Mahindras are hot sellers because of their great value, like kubota used to be... seems like he is just ticked cuz he has lost a few customers to the new competition. I remember 10-20yrs ago kubotas were the go to and sold like hot cakes because of their value against JD.

I have ordered several parts for our 2810, from seals to a shift lever. Never had any problems getting parts.

Any dealer will sell parts to you. When my 3510 dealer was dropped by Mahindra, I was very concerned about "part availability". Found TBN when searching for Mahindra Parts. Several dealers are advertisers and have great websites with parts search and have had shipped to my door several times.

Some of the parts that aren't commonly needed can be a bit of a wait to get depending on where they have to come from. If you wanted to order a new hood or fender, it would likely be a wait. Any of the items that are commonly broken by operator error or wear out over a period of time are generally available someplace near enough to have it in hand the following business day.

The above is true for every brand out there, whether they have a dealer local to you or not...

Couldn't agree more with the above comments. My recommendation is to get to know your local Mahindra dealer. What do they stock? Are they a true servicing dealer? Are they knowledgeable, trained and experienced? Buying online is a great option but sometimes when you need a part and don't want to wait on shipping. Its nice to know you can get a lot of the common items locally and just go pick it up and get back to work. I will also happily plug Daves Tractor! Fast shipping too!
