John Deere 4720
So, the other day I was pulling out some sage brush with my scraper when the post or bolt or pin (or whatever it's called) to which the arm of my three point hitch attaches to the tractor frame broke off. Not good. Can anyone help me find the part number (or even the correct name) for this part? I'm hoping the attached pictures will show what I am doing a poor job of describing.

Oh, I guess I should tell you what tractor we're talking about here. It's a 4720 CUT.

Thanks,

JD parts calls it a pin p/n M804490

$31.14 from Deere ... Ask the dealer to pull it up to make sure it's correct... I may not be.

Sorry to see that.
I suspect what happened was the clip pin (that which is circled in first pic) caught on some brush and was pulled out, letting the arm/ball slip nearly off and cause the break of the pin.

You were lucky that the casting didn't break. That happens.

I had that happen (lost pin) so I replaced all those pins with bolts/lock nuts that cannot catch on brush.
Lost my drawbar too, because I didn't think to replace that clip pin with a bolt/lock nut.

So seldom are those pins needed, removing a bolt is not so time consuming.

Brush & Trees can be very tenacious. You might use a chain and the draw bar hitch to pull in the future. A blade can amplify a bush through leverage on the arms.

Thanks for that information. I'll try to track down that part this morning.

The pin falling out makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure about swapping it out for a bolt though. I take those arms on and off fairly frequently because I am swapping between 3-point implements and my backhoe. Still might well be worth it for this brush removal project.

It looks like replacement involves just removing and replacing the two bolts on the side of the pin. Is there anything more to it?
