Has anyone adjusted their brakes so that the parking brake has more holding power? JD 3000 or 4000 series.

I have not adjusted them on my 3120, but, after watching it roll down a hill about 10 feet, I posted my concern here. They best advice I got was to push down on the brake pedals when setting the parking brake. This seems to give it an extra "click". Hasn't rolled down the hill since.

Thats the problem, even with pushing hard on the brake pedals and setting the brake it doesn't have a lot of holding power especially when not running. I just was wondering if anyone had adjusted their brakes up to get more parking brake holding power.

I adjusted the brakes by tightning the treaded rod under the tractor on each side so the brakes would be tight when the pedal latched.

greenedeere, did that improve your parking brake?

How are you operating your parking brake? On my 2520, you push the brake with your foot, while holding it down pull up the plastic lever that locks the brake pedal. The harder you push down on the brake is the key to making it work. JC

Push on brake pedal as hard as I can and set with parking knob.

Yes it did. I more or less took up some play in the adjuster,so the pedals could be repositioned closer to the point where it allowed the brakes to be applied with less travel and the parking brake was able to latch with better hold. But not so the new adjustment would be to much to cause the brakes to be applied with the pedal/s released. It didn't take much of a change on mine because the latch would hold if I pressed down really hard.I didn't want to have to do this,or any one else that might operate my tractor(this only happens when I have temparary dumb *ss.)

greenedeere, thanks for the info. I'll adjust mine up and see if that helps.
