Pan. Percussion drill DY Need help and ideas

Here i try to build cheap Percussion driller for drilling 40m deep well.
i already bought 3000RP diesel engine (very old for $50).
the problem with it it only rotate in one direction with accelerator.
i drafted here sample. my worry is the paddle pushing friction ain't that great... i need at least 2m pull to drill.
please guys help me out with ideas thank you.

I'm not sure what it is your trying to do,but i assume your having trouble backing your drill out of the hole as you have no reverse.
I bought an old tractor 1948 with a Standard transmission coupled to the PTO shaft. It did not make sense to me at first. It turned out that this was used to reverse a home made post hole auger. The transmission was out of an old DODGE truck. It was three speed and the fellow I bought it from said it worked well. To reverse you just stopped drilling and moved a linkage to put the transmission into reverse .This might work for you all depends on the size of hole you are drilling.

Do a search on Google for spud rigs/cable rigs and take a look at the configurations they use for the walking beam movement.

You could also use a cathead but for that it's manual for every drop.

I remember seeing a percussion drill many years ago. It had very heavy chisel ( about 10" in diameter and 5 -6 ft long) tied to a winch. They just pulled that almost out of the bore and then dropped that in. Then they had some kind of bucket they lowered in to remove the broken material. They drilled trough solid granite.

The Chile mine accident had a National Geographic or Nova show about it. They brought in a big percussion drill if you can find it online watch it.

I have been looking at things to and the idea that seemed best for a DIY, looks like what I have drawn,

a beam with a rotating crank that would lift the beam pulling the cable down and then slipping off it dropping it,

the other was similar but with a arm that lifted the beam but had a pin that would catch it and when if over center the arm was free to spin

the picture is of the first idea,

the you tube is of the second, about 50 seconds in to the video you can see the pin and the arm work, (it looks like there using this for a driver in the video, maybe putting down the casing)

guys thank you for all the infos.
well i got limited sources so all i got is that setup ( stated in the image) hope someone can help me in way i step something like winch when the engine pull up the drilling hammer i can use any mechanism to drop it back to create that pull and drop friction
