it looks like few members may have purchased a woodmaxx. Can you provide your owner's experiences?

If you do a quick search, there have been recent comments on it.

I used mine for the first time after buying it and trying to keep it covered a year. Rand it continuously for abot six or seven days with no problems other than blade sharpening. I used the original blades sharpened while having the american made and installed ones sharpened. I will buy a new set of quality blades to go with the ones wod max supplies on the unit and throw the old Chinese ones away.
My advice is not to judge products just because they come from china. Just like in the USA, there are good and bad. So far wood max has been very good and I would say it has almost paid for itself in the first two weeks it has been in use vs. hiring a tree service or landscape co.
Anyone who has been to China lately has had a rude awakening, the bicycles are almost gone, and the state of advancement in their larger cities has to be seen to believed. Shanghai is at least 25 years ahead of us in that regard. That city's population is almost the size of Canada- 30,000,000. Not a comparison, just a little known fun fact. They are moving into agriculture also, which is not a good thing for the current leaders in that market....

Is this a china thread or a wood chipper thread?

Have used mine for one year without any problems. I was hesitant to purchase after reading some peoples warnings about inferior Chinese products -- but could find no first-hand complaints on TBN boards.
Suggest you by a Wallenstein model if money is not a factor, but I consider my chipper to be of good quality for one third the price.

What Bayless posted above is old data relating to the knives. They now ship with USA made reversible knives installed. They were running a special last year which included an extra set of knives. No complaints about mine and Woodmaxx customer service is very responsive to any issues.

I've owned my Woodmaxx chipper since about April of 2013 and have found it very acceptable for my needs. Go for the hydraulic feed model and you'll not be sorry.

Just spent the last couple of days taking down 7 hardwood trees and various smaller ones. I chipped up all the branches that were 4" or smaller which made a couple of big piles of chips. Just a couple of small issues which were to be expected with the vibrations from chipping. The hydraulic belt became loose for some reason. I checked the tension pully and the nuts were tight. The best I could figure is the hyro pump shifted slightly and loosened the belt which resulted in erratic roller feeding. The nuts holding the pump were not loose so who knows... I readjusted the pump mount spacing and now it's good to go.

For those who think they would never need an 8" chipper and opt for something smaller - don't do it. Anything smaller would just result in more difficult feeding unless, of course, all of your branches are perfectly straight and trimmed. The trees I recently cut up had branches that had all kinds of bends and would have been labor intensive to have to cut all those so they would properly feed into a smaller chipper.
