Yanmar 1500d
I just purchased a Yanmar 1500d. I have read that I need to use a overrun clutch when I use a rotory mower (which I do not have yet). Since I winter is around the corner, and I live in Western New York (snow country) I am planning on purchasing a 3pt snowblower. Will I need a overrun clutch when using the snow blower? Thanks.. Jay

Not familiar with your tractor, but overrunning clutches are generally used where the PTO is connected to the transmission. This means that if the cutter is running at speed and you push in the clutch, the tractor will continue to move because the cutter blades are acting as a flywheel. The stored momentum is providing the power to move the tractor. If this is the case with your unit, an overrun clutch would be advisabe with any attachment that has a lot of inertia in it's moving parts.

It wouldn't hurt for that combination, good luck!

You most definetly need the overrun clutch for a mower of any kind, which I assume from your post that you will eventually be adding to your tractor. They aren't that expensive. I believe I paid around $50.00 for one at Tractor Supply. So why not get it now and remove the doubt and have peace of mind that you're covered? One bit of advice- keep it greased faithfully or it could lock up and cause you to lose the overrun protection.
