overfill of hydraulic fluid on L5030HST

I changed out all the filters, engine oil, hydraulic fluid with Super UDT, and greased everything on my L5030HST over the weekend (I've got 100 hours on it). I located all the drain plugs on the transmission / rear end and removed them all when I drained the hydraulic fluid, and I refilled with 12 gallons of UDT (manual calls for 11.9 gallons with filter changes). I let the tractor fast idle for about 5 minutes after refilling and then just moved forward / backward about 20 feet a few times, and operated the FEL and 3 pt hitch up and down a few times. After this, the dipstick indicated an overfill (level was up about 1 inch higher than the "full" mark).

Will the level go down any with use? The HST didn't act like it had air trapped in it. Will it hurt to leave the level this high if it doesn't go down, or should I try to siphon out some fluid? I've never had a tractor with HST before, so I'm not sure if I need to do anything about it or not. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Woodchuck: There will be several who may disagree with me but I will explain my experience with overfilling. I live in the mountains and sometimes I pull a rotary mower up some extremelly steep terrain. What happnes is this, I back down to the tree line and then head back up the hill. If the hydraulic oil is not overfilled the tractor will barely move because of low oil at the pump intake. If I overfill it to much, the oil comes out of the vent tube located at the hydraulic oil fill cap.

If you want to let some oil out, simply unscrew your oil filter (just a little) and allow the amount of oil you determine to be to much to flow out then retighten the filter.
