Over 2200 rpm engine huffs and puffs, blue smoke

So recently I just checked over my tractor and took it out to do some snowblowing, however when I went to bring the engine to 2500 rpm the engine would huff and puff a little bit and blue smoke would come out the exhaust. I did have to adjust my fuel filter and bleed the fuel filter assembly, would I need to bleed my injectors, or could the problem be cause by something else as well? The tractor is a branson 4220

Could the air-filter be clogged with ice &/or snow? I've had this issue myself blowing snow with my Pasquali 993. I added a foam pre-filter to the intake, to keep the snow from getting sucked in & clogging the pipe.

blue smoke is usually oil.. but a lil smoke on a throttling up diesel isn't always un-natural.

first, check oil level.. it it is high or looks way thin STOP. you may have diesel in the crankcase.. that will make em smoke.

next check air filter and intake.

1, a plugged air filter will make em smoke ( usually black ).. and if you find lotsa oil in the intake case that can be a seperate issue.. but can be a source or at least a sign / symptom of your smoking

I am guessing you are some where it is cold since you are blowing snow ( filling out you bio would help). If it is very cold it could be a fuel issue. Try adding some Power service to the fuel and see if that helps. What are you talking about when you say you had to adjust your fuel filter.

I checked the air intake and there was no obstruction. Its parked inside so snow or ice shouldn't be a problem, I was more concerned about rodents, but there was none either. While checking the oil because of the blue smoke, I did believe that it looked a little thin, so I am glad you said that that could be a problem, I might pick up a new jug of rotella for my tractor and compare the viscosity of the oils, Do you have any advice on what to do before I go buy a new jug of oil? I could take a picture of the dipstick if that would help

smell it. it should not smell like diesel.. should just smell sooty.

is it over full?

and did you check for a frozen air filter REAL good ?

Ok I will smell it afterwork when I get home. It is not over full it is 4/5 inbetween high and low. As for the air filter I took them both out and gave them a look. They both seemed fine I will bring them inside just incase they do need to thaw. I doubt they will need it though because this is our secondary tractor and has been inside pretty much all winter

I gave the oil a smell, and it did not smell like diesel. To be 100% sure the air filter isn't frozen I took them out and I brought them inside near my woodstove incase they do need to thaw.

Hi! I think Blue smoke is poor combustion in Diesel. Check fuel filter (replace by new) first. Just drain is not enough I think this is your trouble. If not. Your engine is missing fuel (Can be fuel injection pump adjustment) or missing air or bad compression. Black smoke is too rich or over load. A cold diesel smoke blue But when hot no smoke.
