Re: informing authorities - in this particular instance I think asking forgiveness is preferential to asking permission. Give a run, and then you will know clearly what all of the salient points are. I suspect that you will then find it more trouble than you care to invest.

Regarding liability, what first popped into my head was if someone had a boating accident, drowning, etc., they would go after you since you created the "hazard" of creating Boat Theater, which is a cool idea. I think that having to worry about a lawsuit is bovine scat but I could see the incident happening followed by the lawsuit. And even if you win the lawsuit you loose by having the lawsuit.

Since Boat Theater would be free I think copyright is not an issue especially if it is a small group of people. No different than showing a movie at your house to a group of friends.

I do have one suggestion though. I do not think you should show any of the Titanic movies, Deliverance, and never The Poseidon Adventure.

I would sell popcorn, soft drinks and might as well sell adult beverages, your probably breaking the law anyway.
I would show "Jaws" and "Anaconda".

as I see it there would be many downsides,
1- my john boat don't have a radio
2- would be my luck the boat in front of me would be the size of a battleship,
3- only ones out on boats after dark are either the night fisherman or the Richy folks with there 1/2 million dollar house boats that already have 60" big screen tv's
4- I have found myself fallowing the 1/2 million dollar boats just to watch there tv
5- how many people going to get board with the movie and decide to take a swim? or either other things that used to take place aat drive In's
6- most folks preferred beverage drink wouldn't allow them to drive their boat after 2 hour movie,
7- can you imagine the traffic jamb in a cove when folks trying to pull up anchor's and make their way out,
8- the 1 positive thing I can think of is that it would be ((( Free))):thumbsup:
