Left Rear

You can see the manuals and the touch up paint on the floor board. Unfortunately the manual for the MMM was not in the bag. And to top it off the mow deck was lower on the left by about 1" as delivered. After a couple of minutes studying the underneath I figured out how to lever it from side to side. I think I figured out the fron to back but it was pretty much in and I didnt want to go loosing any more hardware until I have the manual.

I think you'll be very impressed with the performance vs your Bolens. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Now, go get it dirty! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This me and number one son. After I took all of the above pictures I think I put about 4.5 hours mowing and playing with the FEL moving some mounds of dirt and trying to lower some areas in my back yard. He wanted SO bad to ride on it. How can you say no!?

Like I mentioned, I mowed and played with the FEL four about 4-5 hours after it was delivered. I can say I only hit one fence post with FEL (vinyl fence) and it was a small knick. I think I scrapped one tree also. There is a postion on the FEL control, push forward, then push one more notch forward. According the manual it "floats" the bucket so you can glide into a pile without digging into the ground. Neat feature. Of course I didnt realize what it was until I was done for the day read the manual. Leveling with the FEL was ok but I think a box blade may be necessary just to speed up the process. We'll see. Hopefully I'll get better with the FEL.

And as far as mowing goes. Once I got the deck level it worked great. It is very noisy though. The tractor was in and outta the ditches with hardly a complaint. I honestly do not see a problem with the little 2 cylinder. Considering the weight of the tractor and running the MMM at the same time, the little engine didnt even change tune coming outta the ditches. I didnt attempt my big ditches in the front yard. I want a little more seat time before attempting those. Really steep. I know it can handle it because the salesman drove it off the trailer and into the ditch without any hint off tipping. And he was quite a bit large than me.

Congrats on the new BX. It should last you long enough for the little fellow to work it on his own /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The thing I found surprising about my 60" MMM & BX23 was how much more quiet they were over my previous 23HP 48" Kohler powered LT. The wind noise is the loudest sound I hear.
So this leads me to question whether the dealer greased the spindles before delivery.
There has been many members post on how dry their MMM spindles were on delivery and that it took beau-coup grease to fill them. We're talking 30 pumps of a grease gun or more.

Since I picked up & installed my MMM (didn't want to wait on delivery of the BX23) so I greased mine before I installed it and it took quite a bit. I guess the factory doesn't fill 'em up.

Anyways, I recommend you grease them up pretty good (perhaps 20 pumps or more per spindle) and don't worry about over filling them as there are cups on the bottom to catch the excess. See if this doesn't quiet it down some for you.

The water cooled diesel plus all that shrouding and that high quality MMM should make it more quiet than a similar sized air cooled gas engine powered machine.

Great looking tractor. Was it just soft grass or was the left front tire soft?

A box blade would be a nice addition to counter balance the FEL. You might also consider fluid in the rear tires for a little more weight, however, with cleated tires, all the extra weight might dig up the lawn.

Now your stuck. You'll be hard pressed to justify replacing a tractor that will last for 30 years. Good luck with it.

I'm not sure which picture you are referring to but I mow my grass kinda tall so I guess it gives the illusion that the tires are flat.

Is that a dog in picture #4? Looks like it's trying to find a tire to ... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice little tractor by the way. I almost bought a 1500 last year for my mowing business. That would work great with a sweepster on it.

I think you will be very happy with your new purchase, and I know you will be amazed at the power it has. You will do things with it that you wouldn't think possible.

ENJOY! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
