Mostly because you don't have an L185. There is one pto shifter. Period. There are two differential/range shifters. Ask the seller. If a seller can't explain what they're selling, why buy it?

You can buy an operator's manual from Homestead Tractor.

Or you could do as you've done already and go to a tractor web site that has a system that allows you to post questions, regardless of what they are, and hope to get an answer instead of being questioned yourself.

Sorry I can't provide any specific information regarding your question. I have a GL21 and it has two levers to set the range as well but mine are both labeled H/L. It has a 4 speed shuttle shift tranny so I have a total of 16 F and 16 R gears. The two lower ranges aren't useful for me but I can see where they might be used for tilling. I have a 5 speed PTO w/ reverse and the gear selectro is on the floor near the base of the steering coulumn. Hopefully someone will be along soon to provide useful information specific to your tractor. Good luck and welcome to TBN.

BTW, where did you buy your tractor? What are you planning to do with it? Post pics if you have them!

The gear you are talking about is just your High - Low Gear for the tractor. It will also show in the same place your PTO setting 1 - 4 for a L1501 4wheel drive. You can only move the lever up and down ---up for high and down for low.

Thanks for your information I thought that might be what it was for just wondered why the L185 didn't have the same sit up on it it does let your tractor move a little faster then the high&low lever on the rear differential housing which is like a creeper gear in low sitting.
