Hi guys & gals,
Hello from Cape Breton ..............
I have been out of touch since the spring but back in the seat again. I ordered my cab for my ck 25 yesterday and will have it on Monday. I am going to look for a heater for it this weekend. By the way, for those of you who can recall, I will have an update of pictures on Gracie's Lane (grand daughter) I am building between our 2 properties. (my daughter's)

Welcome back /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif, I'll be real interested in hearing about your cab kit when you get it put on. I've been thinking about one myself. Nice to have a heated enviroment for the winter. Be sure to post lots of pictures! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kioti Kevin, make sure thst Sims provides you with some GOOD documentation on putting that cab together. I bought a sims cab in February of this year and put it on in February. SIMS did not send ANY drawings of anything on how to put this thing together. I guessed at everything. I guessed wrong in a few places and had to re-do the parts. I was very, very, very, disappointed that sims cab didn't provide any drawings on where all the skirting went. The cab is a well built strong cab, but I was very disappointed with the company for not providing adequate pictorials and adequate written instructions on what part went where. Also, the soft sided door that opens on the left hand side of the cab, needs some re-engineering. The latch that is supposed to hold the door closed is of very, very, poor design because all last winter I needed a bungie cord to keep my door closed. This spring I had to use a large bar clamp and pull the two sides in closer in order for the latch to set properly with the door stop. After many hours talking with the company, sending digital pictures back and forth, I finally got the cab on the tractor. Also, have some plumber's putty ready because when you put the top of the cab on and affix it to the front and rear panels, the holes they drill in the roof are elongated. So if you use their washers and bolts to mount the top to the cab and you don't use plumber's putty, your roof will leak. I certainly hope you get drawings and better roof mounting holes and bolts than I got. Please let me know how it turns out. I had a heck of a time getting this cab to fit on my tractor because of the lack of proper instructions on assembly. For what we pay for these cabs, SIMS needs to provide better documentation with their cabs. I am very, very, very, disappointed with SIMS in that respect. I hope they change their ways and soon.

Forgot to mention also. After four months my roof liner started to come down from the roof and fall on the seat. I called SIMS, and they sent out a can of spray adhesive. So this summer I took the roof off and cleaned and applied the adhesive they sent and hopefully this time the liner will stay in place. It would have been nice of them to give me a little something for my troubles with this cab but to this day, nothing, barely an apology from them.

Can you use a backhoe with the Simms cab attached?

I don't have a backhoe attachment so I cannot say for sure if you can use this cab with a backhoe. Sorry!

Kevin, I wondered what happened to you. Welcome back.
After what aosbill went through back when he got his Sims, I decided I sure didn't want anything from that company. I hope you have better luck!

Hi Guys,
Sorry I haven't been logging on but it has to be the bussiest year yet for me. I have been working 2 jobs the past 20 years and I think it is starting to catch up to me. I am only checking in the site here to catch up on any new info (5 minutes) and gone again. Can't sleep so here I am at 6:30am.
I finally got my cab on Thursday and I have it mostly all together now. A couple of problems - the biggest one of course is (and Bill is right) it has to be the worst instruction manual I have ever seen. Some of the instructions don't even make sense - too many detail to go into. My door latch (inside handle is already attached) doesn't close well (same as Bill's), Outside handle has no bolts to attach it. No rubber washers for the roof bolts. Anyone who has a ck25 or ck30 can relate to this - the 2 large plastic adjustment nobs that release and tighten the folding ROPS have to be removed and replaced with a metric bolt that protrudes out no further than 1/2 inch or you will not get the cab on at all. I have replaced them and now for anyone who needs to fold their ROPS after the cab is installed - can't - my ROPS is perminately fixed, the back of the cab is tight against the head of the bolts. I'm lucky because I have an 8 foot garage door with a 1/4 inch clearance. A couple of other small issues I have to call them on Monday. The instructions are not for the end user. They assume you are already mechanically inclined or a dealer will be doing the installation anyway.
I do have to give them high marks for quality (as Bill mentioned) it is well made and the staff at Sims are very cooperative right from Kelly who took my order to the shipping guy. They helped me through a couple of issues (that of course were not explained in the instruction manual) these guys are great people to deal with. I think the owner just needs to work on a more (a lot more) friendly user instruction manual. I'll take some pictures this week. I hope this information along with Bill's can be helpfull to someone.

Kevin
