I am in the final stages of a Kubota B7800 purchase and am trying to decide on which way to go for a mower and tiller. Funds are running short. Am I just throwing my $$ away going with KK? I have appx 2 acres of mowing to do (small pastures and around the barn). No wild brush, only grass and weeds.

I was also looking at the Howard tillers that my dealer sells, and to be quite honest the KK tillers looked sturdier. Just wanting any opinions on the KK brand. Thanks!

I have a King Kutter rotary cutter (brush hog), and I love it!!! I've used it to cut down saplings over 2 inches in diameter, and it works great. I've had it for three years, and I give it HEAVY use on over 50 acres. I've NEVER had a problem with it. I'd buy any King Kutter product in a heartbeat!!!

As has been said by a certain ICON on TBN; "King Kutter gives you the most bang for the buck!"

Oh, have you opened a can of worms. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You're gonna get some wildly diverse opinions on KKs. FWIW, here's mine:

I tried to buy a 6' KK cutter, but after a close look just couldn't bring myself to do it. I happened to come across a Kodiak cutter for about the same price. It seemed much sturdier. Unlike the KK, all the seams are welded all the way across, the tail wheel support isn't just a strap, and the rust wasn't showing through the paint at the dealers.

So far, I'm completely happy with it.

I do not own any KK PTO driven implements but I did purchase a KK carryall frame and a KK XB middle buster. The quality of the carryall is OK although the paint job is pretty shabby. The welds and structure are fine.

The XB middle buster is another story, the fit and finish is terrible and it was delivered with several engineering problems. KK middle buster

I won't buy another KK product because of the quality issues with my middle buster and the fact that they don't seem to be concerned about quality issues.

I've been very satisfied with my KK attachments. They are strong and work just fine. The paint is not all that great and other details could have been done better, but KK products are a good value. Just be prepared to have to make minor modifications and even minor repairs to brand new stuff. For me it's been worth the savings in money.

The three KK products that I have work OK. As others have said, prepare to at least paint each product. When it came to mowers, I went with First Choice....much sturdier built. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As you'll read, the consensus is probably bad paint but decent value. If you're on a fixed budget and not hard on equipment, KK is probably a good way to go.

I've heard nothing but good things about the King Kutter (actually 'King Kutter II') tillers. John Miller III here spoke very highly of them here as did another manufacturer, if you can imagine that. The actually told me they didn't know how KK put out that tiller at that price and that they wished they could do the same.

It sounds like you need a finish mower and not a rotary cutter. I bought a rear discharge Woods finish mower last year and it's really more than I need. It's a fine, fine piece of equipment but was as much used as a new King Kutter. Without any heavy use you would probably be very happy with a King Kutter, though I'd sure suggest looking at First Choice, also. I have one of their box blades and it was only a little more money than the KK of the same size but had a far, far better fit and finish.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've had my 60" King Kutter II tiller for several years now and recommend it! (tills very well)
I also have the KK 72" rear finish mower that seems to work fine.

King Kutter.....
I have had King Kutter products,I have had good luck with them and they are a very practical product, nothing fancy looking but get the job done and can stand some abuse.
I had an old King Kutter brush hog and I had problems with the seal on the shaft leaking could not keep the gear oil in it,I replaced the seal a few times and finally said "the heck with it" and I would just take a tube of grease and pump the grease in the fill hole on the gearbox and ran it for years that way.
