Hi all,
A friend is looking at 6 foot brush hogs and we found a heavy duty 6 foot Bad Boy at our local Tractor Supply for $2300 I think it is.

What do you guys think about this brand? They seem to be popular out here.
It also seems to be pretty well built.

I've got a 5 ft that I haven't had a chance to use yet, seems to be extremely well built! I bought it with the BB 4035H and went with the 5 over the 6ft as it was about $800 cheaper, I figure it will be a little easier on my machine and I don't mind taking a couple more rounds on it. I look for work just to be able to work the tractor!

@880# for a 6' cutter with a 75hp gearbox, I wouldnt exactly call it heavy duty.

For comparison, a bushhog
116 is 600# and 60hp gearbox
216 is 840# and 65hp gearbox
316 is 1200# and 130hp gearbox
416 is 1300# and 210hp gearbox
516 is 1775# and 225hp gearbox

For bushhog, the 100-series is light/standard duty with 1" cut capacity
The 200 series is medium duty and 2" cut capacity
The 300-500 are heavy duty with 3", 4", and 5" cutting capacities.

The badboy is equivalent to the 200 series medium duty.

Same across the board with other MFG's who offer light, medium, and heavy duty. Like landpride 18, 20, 26/27, and 37 series cutters or woods with 72.20, 72.30, 72.50, 72.60 cutters.

That badboy looks like a decent cutter, but my concern would be parts availability. Rotary cutters are relatively simple machines. And at the end of the day, weight and gearbox ratings are what to look out for.

Not sure how that price compares to a BH216, or a LP2072, or a woods 72.30? I havent priced cutters in a coons-age. I can only assume its a good bit cheaper....otherwise why would anyone deviate from the bigger players?
