Hiya guys. I'm new to this forum and new to tractors in general. We bought our house last year on 9.3 partially wooded acres and love it, but it's so much work that I know I need a tractor to keep up with it.

So we've started looking around for a tractor and my wife's step-father, who owns a New Holland said we should look at this one.

Krystowski tractor TC25

My question is do you think it's a good deal? I heard from a dealer yesterday that ~3000 hours is getting long in the tooth for a tractor and this one is slightly over half that. I'll be using it for mowing grass and moving dirt to fill in low spots, gravel for the driveway, snow throwing, and possibly moving the occasional log out of the woods. Do you think it's powerful enough for that?

The dealer also told me that a belly-mount lawn mower is a pain in the butt to remove and replace when you need to and I should go with a pull behind. Is this really that big of a concern? I like the maneuverability of the under-deck mower though. Do you who own one have a hard time taking it off or putting it back on?

Thanks.

I think since it's got that many hrs on it and it's a already 11 years old I'd ask like $9,500 or $10K for it.

I don't think a snow throwing attachment and turf tires would be a good combination.

My local Massey Ferguson dealer has brand new MF 40 hp with a front end loader for $19k cash.

$12900 seems kinda steep. As other have said $9-10k is more in line. 1500 hrs is not really that many if it was taken care of. Long time to go from 1500 hrs to 3000. I bought my tractor new (2006 model)and only have 178 hrs on it and I brush hog 9 acres/snow plow a long driveway.

I would watch ebay and try to find one from a private owner or go to auctions or watch the local classified/craigs list etc.

A want ad also works well.

try tractorhouse.com

I bought mine used from an individual on Craigslist. It's an '05 Challenger MT275 4x4 with loader with only 312hrs on it for $10,500.00

Let me throw my two cent's in here. I owned a 2004, tc24da hydrostatic drive and mid mount pto with r4 tires got it off rathell farm equipment in maryland. only gave $6400 for it and it had 450 hrs. This tractor is not much different than the tc25 you have or are looking at. Great running tractor with a lot of power for it's size and if you are mowing the grass and spreading a little loose rock, it would do fine. However i recently traded up to a 2011 t1510and these were the reasons why. 1). I plow and maintain a large garden or two...and the ground clearance was not the best in plowed or sowed ground...2). The stability on hillsides with implements. it's not the widest or longest tractor and it can get you into trouble. Yes it's a stable tractor but know it's limits. 3). Found it terribly difficult with some implements to adjust turnbuckles to reduce or prevent sway as the lift arms are curved out quite a bit, the distance between the tires is not a great deal. 4). I found that even though it had a cat 1 hitch some implements listed in cat1 range were a little difficult to connect to, not nessesarily width wise but distance from rear wheel, when i lifted the implement it would not come up much before it hit the tires. this was most prevalent on a brush cutter or finish mower. 5). The lift height in general, I have a single bottom plow that i used with the tc24da and when i lifted it all the way up it still was only about 4 inches off the ground They do make a smaller plow for sub-compact tractors this would have been the cure but $$$. 6). Need front weights or loader as it will almost lift more than it's weight at 3pt hitch. The mid mount mower will add some weight but still add some if you decide to buy and get implements.

Now with all that being said, the tractor was a good peice of machinery and gave no problems other than noted but i just needed a little larger tractor to garden and small farm with, i only have 6 acres. And to give you an idea i gave $12,000 for a new T1510 thats larger in wheelbase, length and weight and could not be happier.....Look for a tc30 same tractor as t1510 or even another model 1710,1720 think you would be much happier with the price and performance.....

A TC25 is the same frame size as a TC30 or your T1510. I know this because my neighbor has one. If you park it beside my TC30 they are the same size. The TC24 is a smaller tractor.

Yep looks like the frame is about the same size should have researched that before i went blabbing off....lol....anyway i was just trying to help maybee someone wanting a tc24 will use the info.....but if it is the same size or close to the t1510 and has that many hours i would take advice from someone else on this thread and wait for a better deal.
