I am looking at purchasing a B6000 4x4 with the hyd lift/hyd angle snow blade mounted on it. I know about the backwards rear PTO, which is fine as I dont need rear pto ablities and have plenty of time to locate one of the woods 3pt mount mowers for it. I mainly need a small 4x4 with cat 1 3pt for implement work and chores. I would be selling the snow blade off of it as I dont need it and it would recoup some of my outlay to purchase it. Maybe use the blade as trading fodder for a 3pt mower! Other than a bit of muffler shop work to change the exhaust to an upright stack, I dont see any reason not to get it. I like the choppy 2 cylinder sound! Thanks Mike

Had one back in the '70s. Great little tractor, never let me down. Wasn't fond of starting in winter (Virginia). I overcame that by preheating, and using decomp for about 2 revolutions. They have a high center of gravity, and feel more stable with the rear wheels as wide as they will go. Except for mowing, they work better with some extra weight. Otherwise...

botamike -

Where are you? I sold a 48" Woods to the Kubota dealer in Montpelier, VT about 2 years ago - I think he still has it... it was near mint.

I sold my B6100 b/c I couldn't find ANY implements for it that I wanted - like a mid-mount mower and loader. Too bad, because that was one sweet little tractor - it was literally 'like new'. If I could figure out how to post pictures, I would - because there are a couple I took that show how this early-80s tractor looked like it did from the factory in 2005!

I like the small factor, I dont really need anything larger. I would get a new BX if it was in the budget, but it wont be for many years. It will be kept in a heated garage so winter starting wont be much of an issue. I have seen several B6100's closer to me, but all are 2wd and I want the 4wd model. I am over in Erie PA and moving to Kokomo IN so VT isnt to close to me. Does anybody make a new 3pt finish mower that can be converted to run on the backwards pto. I knew about the older woods models. Cheers Mike

AS a former owner of 2 B6000E's, one with loader and backhoe the other with finish rear three point mower and three point tiller. Both finish mower and tiller were reverse spinning and super heavy duty.

The B6000 is a terrific, super strong, super reliable little tractor.

The only problem is, some internal motor parts like connecting rods are no longer available. That was one reason I sold mine, I was getting nervous about parts.

I also had the hub city PTO reverser, I sold that for $600 alone.

One question to ask is, was the machine ever started with ether?? AS they take a little bit in the winter to start I think many people used ether (I never ever did nor would I on a diesel). I would not purchase one if ether had been used.

Another item that seemed prone to failure although I never had one fail is the "dynamo", they are around $400 new.

Good luck and let us know how it all works out.

Joel
