I have begun to pull some of my 1200 onions. I guess I am about half done.

Nice. That's one thing I can't grow; I put sets in every year, by the end of the summer they'll have grown back to their original size.

Down here, we have to plant onions not later than Jan/Feb if we want to get any real size to them. Onions will withstand some cold, but probably not what you experience in the coldest months.

They also need good water in well drained soil. I was also taught to pull the dirt away from them as they start to mature -hard to do with 1200 sets - I usually only put out about 100 or so sets.

Who's countin'? That's just a bunch.

I've already pulled and ate most of mine. I like to pull them young/green and cut the tops up in salads. Next year I'l probably try to plant about 500 total, but I'm not planting 1,200.

Outstanding!!!!! Got some takers? Cool storage? Donate some?

The only cool storage these will see going into august will probably be the freezer.

Neither will I, again.
