Went to the dump today to unload a carport I am tearing down the build a new shop/garage (post on that to come) and I SCORED! I look next to me in the metal dumpster and there is a nice looking Husquavarna 345 laying on top of the pile. So I grab it and throw it in the truck thinking, what is the worst that can happen? If the motor is blown I have always wanted to rebuild a chainsaw. Well I get home, throw some gas in it and BAM! fires right up!! No $h!t!!!! It has a gas leak, but by my VERY quick inspection I believe there is a hose missing from the gas tank. I can look down on the side and there is a nipple without a hose coming off it. So yeah, I have always said, my favorite kind of chainsaw is a free chainsaw! Have a good evening gentlemen!! KIMG0974.JPG

I got a Dolmar 540 from the dump. The oil tank was cracked but some JB weld slowed the leak to acceptable levels.

Nice find! Yep another man's trash can be another's treasure. I pulled an old craftsman tool cabinet base out of the metal recycle dumpster a few years back. Fixed up the drawer slides, welded some HF casters on the bottom and a 2 x 4 ft 1/2in piece of steel plate and made my first little welding table. Now I always look in the metal dumpster but they are frowning on it due to safety reasons I guess.

Nothing like a steal of a deal. Kinda like the MS361 I got from a pawn shop, The girl said it Wouldn't run. Had oil in the gas tank and gas in the oil tank. $50 later it was mine. Purrs like a kitten now.

Great find!

I've got some good finds like that at the dump. Ours has a metal carport set up on a pad to leave things that others may want. They have that and the hazardous materials drop off closed during these times but i look forward to them opening those areas back up for use.

I was dropping my recyclables off one day when a guy pulled up and put a like new Husqvarna backpack blower under the free shed. I snarfed it up quick. Got it home and it had no fire. Pulled the plug and found the spark plug electrode was bent closed. I guess they pulled it out and dropped it then put it back in. Gapped the plug and it fired right up.

I have picked up tillers and other gas powered stuff that just had rotten gas lines. THANK YOU ETHANOL!

I have had my share of 'good finds' as well.
A $40.00 chainsaw that only needed gas! (Sthil 009, nice light powerful for size.) *
Another $40.00 find, a Milwaukie 'hole hawg' that simply wanted the chuck repaired!

Then is my General 16" planer for $300. at a yard sale. (they list in the $3/4000. range and considered to be the best)
Oh, but then I'm a yard/garage/auction sale junkie.
A few times I have spot sold B4 leaving an auction site some or part of a bulk or lot purchase.
Auctions can be fun and very rewarding not to say very entertaining as well.

*just last year a tree surgeon offered to trade my 009 for a new $400. Jonsered saw. The 009 is so light and powerful that they use it one handed when up high.

Yep a junkie/collecter, and my cluttered shop sure proves it. but then I usually have the right tool for the job.

That Echo TimberWolf i bought if you read in post #2 , today i put fresh fuel , two cycle oil, bar oil in it . I choked it gave it two yanks and it fired rite up . Now I have 2 TimberWolfs and one Stihl ms 291 FARM boss or whatever they call it . I have for most part always been a Stihl guy but me personally like the Timberwolfs better at least when compareing to my MS291 .
My Echo's start easier and seem to rev higher . BTW i havent done any mods to them , just saws straight from the box with all three w/20" bars ...............................
