Once and for all…RPM gauge on a BX

I have searched this fine site on a number of occasions regarding the RPM gauge for a BX question and still haven’t found anyone who has succeeded. While some good progress was made on identifying engine type and theoretical possibility, most of the discussions wondered off in a “you don’t need no RPM gauge anyway” direction.

So my question…has anyone, anyone at all, succeeded in the quest to affix an RPM indicator gauge to a BX. This is not about needs…this is about wants. I have in my mind an image of a large RPM gauge mounted out on the hood…like some of those old 60’s muscle cars used to have. Hmmmm. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Yes, I have a Digital Tach/Hour Meter available that a sensor clamps on one of the injector lines for the BX or any diesel powerplant. It also has extra stuff as service hours, job hours, total hours, max rpm speed, and of course your current rpm.

Currently the projected price is going to be $69. prepaid orders to be shipped free in USA.

So yes... you can now have your "muscle tractor" BX with a real live digital tachometer...! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif


I am currently waiting for Muhammad's classified section to get up and running in the next week or so and I'll be able to advertise it "legally"...

Yea...Pictures and specs would be great to see, even before you have them oficially up for sale.

I too would like to install a tach on my BX2200 for two reasons: 1) So I'm not guessing, based on engine sound, that I'm at 2000RPM or 2400RPM, etc; and 2) So I know that the correct RPMs are being used if my better half is going to mow - its easier to tell her to adjust to XXX rpms rather than attempt to explain what the engine should sound like or have her go to wide open and then back down a little on the throttle. JohnMiller3, I would appreciate any additional info you have on your digital tach/hour meter.

John, since you aren't actually selling the tach yet, why don't you post a picture?

It's not gonna work on your Ford 8n... but I have another one for gas engines I can get for about $35....

I'll try to scan a picture tomorrow of a prototype... should be close to final production...(I'm not the mfr... I'm just gonna sell them) /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
