\"ON SALE\"....

"ON SALE"?! That is a tactic used by many retailers. AN EYE CATCHER and it works!

I was once told that "on sale" doesn't always mean the price of the item. It could have been sold out, back ordered, a new item etc; and now they are in stock and are ready <font color="blue"> for </font> sale. Hence "on sale".

"SALE PRICE" means that it is at a lower price than the original selling price at that retailers place of business. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hmm...

So if I raise the price this week, I can put it "on sale" next week for the "sale price" and everything is cool, right?

We have a regional supervalu chain here that never has sales but has "Temporary Price Reductions" on a bunch of items every week (for only a week) which they include in flyers in the newspaper. But they never have sales. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Lowes and Sears sends out flyers with regular priced items in them and then state everyday low prices.

I was going to state that. Most retailers don't do that but some retailers do as you have said. I try to have faith in that they are honest. If I'm shopping for something, I usually research it for the average going price and go from there.

YES I have noticed this for the past some odd years,I think it a conspircy of marketing pukes to get your attention and it does but to be more honest they should say FOR SALE but that's about as exciting as kissing your sister! So they have to spice it up enough to bring you in ,so that while your there they hope you'll spend money on something you didn't set out to buy in the first place err ...like that candy bar at the check out or maybe a new flash light key chain uhh yea sure....

The various sales tactics used today make us "think" that we "need" something that we really whouldn't have purchased in the first place. It happens to all of us at one time or another. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We spend our money thinking we got the best of them....

I currently have a nice tractor and I really "need" a top & tilt. But hey, I really wanted that myself before I read all the hype about it, didn't I??? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Get my drift
