Few pics of the begining of the project. Mobile home was 18'x70'
Note the size of the concrete slab..

Loaded front porch by hand on trailer, had to cut all 20 4x6 legs with chainsaw then drag the rear porch with a 4x4 dually because the L3400 sold too soon

Tried using my 24' gooseneck but unloading it by picking it straight up was causing too much damage tp the trailer..
Nov05BigRedloaded.jpg

Rounded up some dump trucks and started making some progress. It was estimated around 130,000 pounds of concrete
Nov12TractorDumpTruck006[1].jpg

Had to make a dirt ramp to enable the pallet forks to clear while dumping.

Began to think the job would never end.

Hauled in 15 dump truck loads of dirt, set depth stakes with level and began spreading.

Very impressive and a good workout for your tractor!!!!

Why was the entire mobile home, decking, railings, windows, and well, EVERYTHING painted battle ship grey? Looked like somebody just took a spray gun and sprayed it all at one time with one color.

What are your plans for the area? Was this just a clean up and make it pretty? or will you be building something there?

Nice drag.

Eddie

Hi Eddie,
I inherited the property from my mother after she passed away, my step-dad is in a nursing home and I never had the heart to ask him about all the battle ship grey.. It may have something to do with him being in the navy for so many years:D

Even the garage I took down was battleship grey..

The wife and I plan on building a 40x60 shop with a 24'x60 carport on one side of it then a small house on the 2 acres.

After fighting all the mud from the rain this year I dug a pond after pricing fill dirt.

The little pond yeilded more dirt than expected

This drag worked really well but was only ~6' long it is about 3/4" thick at the flanges... New tractor had not made it in yet so I had to improvise

Glad you got your dump truck back from that aggressive pond :)

Chuck,
Great project to share.
That's a lot of prep you you had to go through. Especially all that concrete removal. What about that pond now? Are you going to leave it and actually make it a pond then?
What kind of shop are you building for?

Thanks Rob, I really under estimated the amount of work to remove the slab the wife wanted to just cover it with dirt. I figured if I did that anytime I wanted to plant a tree etc. the slab would cause a lot of grief.

The pond, well we have not had our usaul fall rains so the level has not risen much but it has not fallen either. We did manage to get the pier in before the level came up too much. We have stocked it with a few catfish, perch, feeder minnows.

We had one good rain and I opened up a temp. dam to let the water in;

I had a ceder tree transplanted (pics to come) and had heck of time with "small" tallow tree that had a ~6' dia. root ball but I got it!! Coaxed the wife down their to help show size hole, good thing she was behaving that day :D

The shop will be for me to tinker with jeeps, tractors, welding projects etc. I have hopes of building a "hunker bunker" in it. A small room (10'x20') with poured concrete walls or cement blocks filled with cement with rebar coming up from the slab. This room would be our shelter if a bad hurricane where to come. The 24'wide by 60' deep carport would be for travel trailer, implement storage.

Its fun but a lot of work and money....

Chuck.

Yeah but it's worth it and it looks great.
I'm sure you'll enjoy that pond too, once things slow down for you.:) Wife looks really happy so go for it.
