Hi all this is my first post. I have an 1974 Oliver 1365 with 5400 hours, the last 400 are mine. It has been a great tractor, so great I got lazy checking fluids.
Yesterday I was out spreading manure, when I noticed it running poorly and quickly shut it down. The temp gauge was fully in the red, and it was down 10L of coolant...oops. I put coolant in and let it sit for 30 minutes and it ran fine for about an hour, then the noise and running poorly returned. I parked it at the shop let it sit over night and then this morning it seemed fine again for about 1 hour 15 minutes, then the noise started and it stalled. I don't think it is still overheating.
It seems to me that when it gets warm something isn't getting lubricated that puts an extra load on the tractor and I can feel it in the seat, and today it stalled. My worry is that I compromised the head gasket and my oil isn't working like it should. The oil looks mostly fine, but it is due to be changed anyway, so I will go and do that now. I will also check the status of the fluid in the transmission.
Spreading manure puts a lot of stress on the auxiliary hydraulic system to run the FEL. The fluid in here was topped up recently, but all three times the noise started it was while using the FEL (also changing gears a lot). The auxillary hydraulic pump is connected to the crank shaft in the front, could it just be an unrelated problem with that? What can I check?
Lastly here is a link to a video I took when it was running rough https://vimeo.com/127215139
and to my farm www.fermeauxchampsquichantent.com
Thanks
