A neighbor who owns a 1964 Oliver 1850 with gasoline engine asked me for a little help with a starter solenoid issue.

I was trying to figure out how the starter motor solenoid was wired [ someone else removed all the lead wires and forgot which went where ] After figuring out the proper connections I came to the conclusion that the starter switch - ignition switch was the problem.

My neighbor and I drove to another farm 20 miles away where there is a similar tractor, the farmer told us that he went through several ignition switches before he got the problem solved. He too thought it was a blown solenoid!

Does anyone know where we could get the correct switch? We are on our third try with cheap Chinese knock offs.

I could also use a detailed schematic of the electrical system.

Not to pile too much on this post,,, but; the gas engine will only start at low idle and will stall right away as soon as the throttle is advanced. I obviously need to play with the timing and it would be great to hear from those who have solved these problems.
