Older New Holland hydro models with electric range shift

Looking at buying older used CUT - specifically a New Holland with the electric (switch operated) Hi-Low or Rabbit/Turtle switch for the hydro. Looks like some had the button mounted in the loader control (nice!) while others did not. My question is what models had this feature - doesn't matter where the switch is. So far it looks like some of the TC's with over 30 HP had this but that's all I can find. Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

My TC40DA has the Low/Neutral/High range lever on the left side of the operator platform. The Lo/Hi (Turtle/Rabbit) is on the joystick and the right side of the operator platform. The TC40 was a gear tractor. The TC40D and the later TC40DA had HST. I don't think gears were even an option but I bought mine used. The operator manual doesn't discuss gear operation.

The smaller TCs with HST, below 35 HP if memory serves, did not have the Rabbit/Turtle option. They had a 3 range HST selected with the lever on the left side. The early model TC40D had a solid joystick without the switches, but could be retrofitted with the newer model joystick.

my tc45d has 2 ranges as levers on the left and a hi/lo button on the right (and on the loader stick) for a hi/lo within the other ranges. thus 4 gear ranges

Thanks. I know how they work...just trying to find out which NH tractors had that feature. Repowell might be correct about TC's 35HP and above. The only ones I can find on Tractorhouse are TC35D's.

according to my shop manual the tc35/40/45 are the same tractor. I think they are tuned different to accomplish the 3 hp ranges

They are indeed the same physical size. Tractordata shows a 1.7L 3 cylinder diesel for the 35. The 40 gets a 2.0 4 cylinder diesel and the 45 gets a 2.2L 4 cylinder diesel. All made by Shibaura. I've owned a couple older Fords with Shibaura motors and have to say they are hard to beat. The throttle response is nearly instantaneous and they are as smooth running as any. Not smokers like an Massey 1250 with a Mitsubishi motor I once had.

My NH 3040 has the high/low button on the loader stick and the right side.

The only New Holland hydro CUTs with a two speed hydro motor section were the Class III tractors, TC35D, TC35DA, TC40D, TC40DA, TC45D, TC45DA and there successors the T23xx and Class III Boomers. These tractors had a rocker switch on the right pod and when fitted with the 2 spool mid mount joystick valve that lever was fitted with buttons to control the two speed hydro motor swash plate angle. All these tractors had a two speed range transmission behind the hydro.
No NH Class II tractors (TC29D, TC33D and others of that chassis size and those that followed) had that feature. This group of tractors had a 3 speed range transmission behind the hydro transmission.

OK-while we're talking about hydro motors why are the 2 speed dual range hydros not standard on just about everything? Seems like an ideal way to go. Heck of a lot easier than stopping/shifting/stomping on the go pedal.
