Update on progress - So I have the replacement motor in, drained the system oil, new filter and cleaned the intake screen (it was completely clogged looking) and refilled it with new oil. Battery was dead so had to charge it over night and put the seat back on. Just fired it up and slowly ran the controls so every thing would get filled with oil and get the air out. I reved the engine up and drove both wheels (on blocks) full speed and didnt appear to starve for oil. Does look like left and right sides are going different speeds as the motor is not the same as what I have on the other side.

I shut it down and went to the wheels on the side I replaced the motor and they still free spin. I was under the understanding the motor was what was to keep the wheels locked up and because A it didnt drive well and B the wheels free spun that the motor was bad.

Is it the valve that is bad and is supposed to be completely closed to prevent the wheels from turning when engine off?

Thanks

Phil

So I finished greasing all the wheel bearings and put it back on the ground. It diffenately drives better but due to cleaning the intake screen I think, no more bucking. The left side still doesn't lock up and when moving forward and I let the left side handle go to stop it keeps moving forward but makes a wierd sound on the left side like because the wheels are turning but lever at stop position the fluid is being forced through something. I am assuming its not the motor that caused the wheels to lock but maybe the control valve and that is whats bad??

thanks

Phil

On my new-hollands---- you have to adjust the levers to a center point neutral and its hard to find! even then they will take off on you, so NEVER get off with the motor running!
Also there should be a motor lock-out that will let loader freewheel with motor off so you can roll/tow it. check to see that they are fully open----if one is part way closed----it gonna affect the flow in a bad way.

Hi so I always shut it off before getting out anyhow.

I do not know if this model has these motor lock outs that you are talking about. I have the manual and I do not see anything like that on the diagram or in the instructions. Could you ask your friend that has one to see if he is aware of this lockout on the pump?

Thank You Phil

Hello I bought an older Ford skid steer the seller said it was a 370 model but has 340 painted on the side. It was also re-powered by a Ford 4 cylinder LQ motor as well so thats different.

It has a bad wheel bearing so that needs to be fixed and was hoping someone here could help on how to remove/replace it, how to identify what I need for a bearing and where i can buy one? Im thinking it should be a standard bearing and i could bring it in to NAPA and buy one from them but I do not know.

The seller also stated the left drive is free flow hydro motor and so you need to start moving it with the right hand lever and once it starts to move then engage the left motor drive lever. When he drove it it moved smooth and easy but when I drove it, it was like a bucking bronco so appears its got a steep learning curve to drive it for me.

Thank You

Phil
Did you figure out why it required you move one side drive motor before the other? I am having the same issue with the old cl340 I purchased.
